Another Winner!

Given that this series is about a female assassin, this is sort of a guilty pleasure for me. I just LOVE this series and can't wait for each new installment to be released! Lauren Fortgang does a wonderful job portraying Gin's smoky southern voice. AWESOME!

There has been a pending battle that all of the previous books have been leading up to. I found it all made sense, the writing was tight, and the world building awesome. I've been so hooked on this series that I couldn't stop listening to it once I started. If other folks disagreed, then perhaps this is not the series for them. For me...PERFECTION! Thanks so much!

Finally, after 5 books, we finally get the showdown between Gin and Mab...although at times in this book, I definitely wondered if it was ever going to happen.

There were parts of this book that I loved...
*the opening scene with Gin trying to kill Mab
*the scenes between Gin and Owen. I like where things are going with them.

But there were other things about this book that drove me nuts...
*I'm sorry...is there a single person who reads book #5 in a series like this who hasn't been reading all of them?? I'm so tired of the same repeated information over and over and over again....every single book, and usually several times throughout the book. What happened to Gin's family, how she got her spider rune scars. Enough already. I don't want to hear it anymore. If I was reading this series, rather than listening to it, I think I would have abandoned it several books ago for this reason entirely.

But it does work for me on audio because it's like a soap opera...I can come back into it a couple of weeks later and it's absolutely no issue to pick right back up where I left off. Now that things are resolved with Mab, I'm REALLY hoping that the series picks up a little bit with some new story lines. I feel like the last three books have stalled out a bit in the style/creativity of the writing.

This is a great climax to this series.

Estep did an awesome job of tying up this story. She kept the suspense ratcheting up to the breaking point. My only issue is that narrators really need to not whisper, even when the character is.

The Big Showdown!

I loved it! The narrator is great at not only the accents and individual speaking styles of the characters, but at the flow of the story. Lauren Fortgang is a wonderful verbal story teller! Having followed the series I was so excited for the big fight and wasn't disappointed. I will say that I wish Fate was a little nicer to Gin, but I think the ending was appropriate...and promising. One of my favorites!!

Don't miss this series!

This is a great resolution to the series. I absolutely loved getting to know Gin Blanco and her friends. The series is set in current day so it's fun to imagine it almost happening. (If there were trolls, giants, magic, etc.) The narrator does a fantastic job. You can always tell who is speaking. I highly recommend the book and series.

Mab, Gin is coming for YOU!

First of all, the missed shot at the very beginning of this book made me gasp aloud. The Spider does not waste an opportunity like this on a sloppy shot.

But she did. So we dive into the story with Mab and Gin going at it full force. You know your heroine is not going to die - the series has like seventeen books in it or something - but there were parts that had me wondering. This is a series that set the expectations up in book one and delivers on them story after story. I tend to put some space between reads for just that reason. Who knows when I will get to #6, but I will.
