Resumen del Editor

Audie Award, Paranormal, 2013

Dark fantasy goes hardboiled in Book II of the hard-hitting Grimnoir Chronicles by the New York Times best-selling creator of Monster Hunter International. The Grimnoir Society’s mission is to protect people with magic, and they’ve done so - successfully and in secret - since the mysterious arrival of the Power in the 1850s, but when a magical assassin makes an attempt on the life of President Franklin Roosevelt, the crime is pinned on the Grimnoir. The knights must become fugitives while they attempt to discover who framed them.Thing go from bad to worse when Jake Sullivan, former P.I. and knight of the Grimnoir, receives a telephone call from a dead man - a man he helped kill. Turns out the Power jumped universes because it was fleeing from a predator that eats magic and leaves destroyed worlds in its wake. That predator has just landed on Earth.

A great new book in the series

This is the second book and the series and it deepens the readers understanding of the world as well as exploring all of the characters in it. The narrator keeps up his attempt to provide a unique voice for each character and does well overall, though some of the accents are more noticeable than others. Overall a great new addition to the series.

A great follow up to Hard Magic

I dove right into this one as soon as I finished Hard Magic and I wasn't disappointed. If you like the first then you'll like this one too. There are great writing with interesting characters. The second book has basically become the X-men with magic instead of mutants, in 1930's but it's done extremely well. And who knew Bronson Pinchot was a narrating genius. I'll be going back to listen to anything he's done.

Outstanding sequel

The only disappointment is waiting for the third book. An outstanding story, well narrated. The characters are rich and well developed. I enjoyed this series much more than the Monster International series, which was a good story in itself.

For Your Daily Testosterone Boost

Lots to like about this continuation of a solid series. Guns. Fights. Fun narration by Bronson Pinchot. In short, it's a solid testosterone-pumping novel with lots to like.

As Good As The First

A very fast paced story about the ultimate struggle between good and evil with wonderful, exciting magic that keeps you wanting for more.  In this series it is probably a good idea to read the books in order because this book picks right up at the end of the first and it will keep you on a wild ride right to the end.

Great magical characters that are so unique, Larry Correia is so amazingly inventive to come up with so many different types of magic.  His main characters powers keep expanding and personal information about each of them is revealed throughout that makes them even more likable.  New and old villains that you love to hate and nonstop action, help to make this a fun, exciting journey through the mysteries of wizardry.

Bronson Pinchot carries an excellent pace and does a great job with so many dialects and accents, he adds depth and personality to the characters. Can't wait for the next book.

Love this series! Very interesting story

I would recommend Spellbound and the other books in the Grimnoir Chronicles to anyone looking for a new, interesting series. The story is very good, the characters are memorable, and the way magic works in this universe is novel. Bronson Pinchot is an -excellent- story teller.

If you liked Monster Hunter series

Would you listen to Spellbound again? Why?

I already have Larry Correia knows how to write urban paranormal with a real twist. his characters are really interesting and they do some amazing things. Real character development

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jake Sullivan, is great, like a cross between a tank and a down pillow.....tough guy with heart.

What about Bronson Pinchot’s performance did you like?

I've listened to Bronson Pinchot narrate several series and he's great, the voices emotions and accents. I recommend another series "The Presidents Vampire" also narrated by Mr Pinchot.

Any additional comments?

Larry Correia writes urban paranormal very well with very interesting characters that you care about. In ever series I've read that he's written, I've enjoyed completely. Hope he continues to write, and even another for the Monster Hunter series would be great. :)

Start to finish, I was Spellbound!

What did you love best about Spellbound?

Correia's series is my first foray into *historical* urban fantasy. His attention to period details give the semi fantastical feel of the genre an uncharacteristic air of believability. His unique system of magic follows a uniform, consistent set of rules at once novel and pragmatic. And his characters are hard hitting archetypes of temperament while retaining an element of psychological complexity, making for 'real' life heroes and villains with whom I could equally identify. Correia is a gift to the genre, shades of Butcher meets technophile.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

A tale of enchanting characters, fantastical magery, and historical realism.

Great three books

What made the experience of listening to Spellbound the most enjoyable?

The character development was very good also they have done a good job mixing in throughout all three books comedy, mystery, drama the whole spectrum. Reader was not bad fit for the time period the book was written for and did a good job tying in some historical people into the story

Any additional comments?

I would recommend the three books
