An excellent FBI story with the hero being Sam. Sam is a man who has lost his wife and is afraid to fall in love again. In this book he tries to avoid the heroine, as she is the perfect woman to him, but he must be close to protect her from someone who wants to kill her. He has ambivalent feelings for her. This book not only has the romance, but has the mystery and suspense as to who is trying to harm the heroine. Great book. Great narration.

Lovely listen on a quiet weekend.

As usual, Garwood entertains in fine style. Both the story and the reader move along smoothly.

Garwood whips up another delicious concoction for the discriminate listener and uses ALL the right ingredients! She starts with the staples: A robust and hearty male FBI Agent uniquely flavored with a Scottish burr; a Texan spiced female beauty with a soft drawl; a lively granny who stirs the pot and subtly saves people not her wealth; a roommate steeped in fresh, fruity wiles and 6 brawny brothers; a mushroom bumbling bad guy; and the flat, almost bitter influence of a bevy of crooks! Susan Denaker does a superb job of Master Chef and with her reading expertise, serves up a banquet! The best dish? The laugh out loud, tears in the eyes humor! Garwood and Denaker have the best offering on the Romance, Comedy, Mystery-Adventure Menu. Spend a credit and order up!!

Greatly Satisfied

I loved everything about this book. The Narrator was great, she was able to transform from one character to another so smoothly with different dialects. I would highly recommended this book to everyone. Two thumbs up for the narrator!!

Another great book in the series. I am looking forward to the next book. The narrator did a wonderful job.

DON'T LET THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS SCARE U AWAY, SIZZLE MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN THE BEST TITLE FOR THIS BOOK BUT THIS IS AN ABSULUTE MUST READ IF U LIKE JG. THIS ON ONE OF HER BEST CONTEMP/SUSPENSE NOVELS EVER. AND YES, MILO THE CROOK AND GRANDMA MIGHT HAVE STOLEN SOME OF THE SHOW BUT THE STORY LINE IS STILL GREAT. I'M STILL LAUGHING WHILE WRITING THIS REVIEW.

Julie Garwood still has it

Julie Garwood is one of my all-time favorite authors. This book reinforces my love for her story-telling. Although the story takes a little longer to completely engage than I would have wished, once hooked dynamite couldn't pry me from my ipod. The mystery may seem elementary at first (I thought I had it figured out from the beginning,) but surprised me by the end. The love story was very satisfying - so satisfying that I wish more of the book was dedicated to exploring the characters' feelings/thoughts toward one another and less on the supporting characters for the mystery plot. (Milo was amusing, but it was not necessary to the plot to dedicate so many pages to him.) Still, the plot was very entertaining and the characters were wonderful (Sam was the perfect Garwood hero and Lyra the perfect heroine.) This was completely worth the credit.

That brogue 😍

I had already read this book and enjoyed the storyline before purchasing the audiobook. My review is of the narrator who did a wonderful job! I could probably listen to this book a few more times for the brogue alone 🤣 I will be looking for more books by Susan in the future.

Is there anything you would change about this book?
yes, the pace of reader was way too slow, use 1.1 or 1.2

What did you like best about this story?
Garwood has good dialogue, wit & humor in story but some of the story is a bit hokey.

What aspect of Susan Denaker’s performance would you have changed?
Reader is excellent in Judith McNaught Every Breath You Take. Do NOT miss that book.
Well heroine is from Texas and this is not this readers best. But her Scottish male accent is great for our hero and he saves this book. Yum

Was Sizzle worth the listening time?
Yes, I have re listened and the 2nd time is much better, hence my revised review.
Sweet Talk, was great from this author ! I recommend it. The pace captured Garwood humor. If you are distracted, you miss it.
Sizzle had so much potetial, but Denaker failed to bring it out in her reading my first listen so use recommend above speeds. The funny parts blended in so you missed it. You catch them at the faster speed.

Garwood has always had such great potential, but she fails to enter the league of Judith McNaught. Garwoods outline is good, but she fails to bring it home somehow.
Her stories are just not consistent, so you get good with mediocre. Don’t miss Mercy or Sweet Talk

This is a re-listen again, ha. I love Julie Garwood's books. Susan Denaker did a really good job narrating. Worth a credit.
