Why would I want to learn all the notes of my fretboard? Over my 25+ year career as a musician and guitar teacher, I have come across many guitarists who cannot name all the frets on the fretboard. Learning the guitar or music theory for that matter, with no knowledge of the basic fundamental organization of the fretboard is a bit like trying to learn to swim without getting into the water.

A Must-Read & A Must-Listen!!
I HIGHLY recommend Mary's book SING, not only in paperback but the audiobook as well. Hearing the author's voice especially when it comes to vocal exercises was such a treat - it was as if Mary was in the room with me! Amazing!!!
If you teach voice and/or choir, you need to read this. If you sing, you need to read this! I have been listening to the audiobook version of Sing by Mary Setrakian Mary Setrakian Official. It has changed my teaching and my students' voices for the better in ways I can't even describe! We used these methods in the last couple of weeks of rehearsal for The Wizard of Oz, and many complimented the improvement in both acting and singing, which I directly attribute to this book.
Today, I had my 4th and 5th grade choir practicing for adjudication. We talked about putting someone they miss on their fourth wall and sending the love and laughter (which were the themes of the two songs) to them. They sang a 5 part round in perfect harmony, and their harmonies in their other song were so perfect. Their phrasing was gorgeous, and their pitch was better than any group I've ever taught!
I cannot recommend this book enough! Mary, your Zoom class at the beginning of Covid started me on this journey, and I am a better teacher, singer, and person as a result. Your book, however, is something beyond special. For any of my friends that are struggling actors, you need this book!!!!

Listening to this book is like having Mary next to you guiding you every step of the way. It’s like a vocal lesson on demand and I’m here for it😁
I have both the physical book and the audible version. It shows in both versions that this was a labor of love❤️
I’m eternally grateful for Mary for sharing her gift with the world!
