Man I love this guy!

Even the writer has super powers. I had no idea this writer was legally blind and lives on a sail boat... what a bad ass. Is it a curse to be this creative or a gift. I often wonder what it would be like to spend a few minutes in this writers mind. All these great characters living in there bouncing quips around all day. Does he laugh at his own jokes or is he laughing at their jokes. Between books I miss this bunch, the writer conjures them at will over coffee and eggs while I wait. I can't get enough. Needless to say Mr. Cook has churned out another fun adventure with our hero Jarvis. One of my favorite aspects of his writing is the detail he goes into so you can feel the texture, taste flavors, smell the gunsmoke, literally see the the sweat on a cold beer. Thanks Scott W. Cook for keeping the adventures coming. Some days I love imagining I'm in one of those storys having a beer and wings with the one and only Jarvis.

Another great Scott Jarvis adventure.

While I loved the book, another amazing twists and turn on the edge of your seat Jarvis yarn. Everything we expect in a Jarvis story is included. However, I don’t think Lee Stayer holds a candle to Dave Alexander. I nearly put it aside in the fourth chapter. Lee’s dead panning descriptors between dialogue was really annoying and distracting. After a bit it seemed to moderate to tolerable. The book is fantastic. Loosing XXXX was a gut punch.

Excellent

Being a limelight star can rise and fade quickly, she is on her way back when danger happens, Jarvis comes in to protect, and soon they both are facing danger, and she is kidnapped. A good.non stop adventure, enjoyed the narration. Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

Excellent, excellent, excellent listen!

Make no mistake, I am a Scott Jarvis fan. I've listened to every book in this series and book five nearly curled my toes. Loved it!! (Well, not that ending. Seriously Scott Cook???!!!!)

This story was an exciting listen. There were so many moving parts and through it all was Jarvis's snark (which I have an affinity for.) The opening sequence is classic Jarvis and the roller coaster that happens after that was fun and invigorating. I loved the mystery (there were several) and the mirthful undertones set the perfect pace throughout. (Things got bad but always with a wink.)

Strayer's narration should be exalted. He's an excellent narrator!

I can't wait for the next book.

Shadows of Limelight

Jarvis has been hired to be the bodyguard of a returning teen pop star, Jillian. He is not thrilled with the pop star and they butt heads constantly. Along with this new job, he finds out that his girlfriend has been offered a job in another state. He doesn't want her to leave but won't stand in her way. Then on his watch Jillian is kidnapped. Now he's on the chase to find his charge. In between all this is the small boy he saved from being kidnapped.
Lee Strayer is a fabulous narrator who brings Jarvis to living vivid life!
This audio and story was fantastic and heart stopping adventure. It's a wild ride!! Jarvis reminds me of Sherlock, Marlowe, Magnum and Bogart all rolled into one!!

Gets better with age

I really think this series is getting better with each story... a great romp with action, romance, danger and a lot of twists and turns, as we've come to expect from Jarvis. Lee Strayer really brings the story to life, too.

What a ride!

Ok, I love a good mystery, detective, police procedural. They are in my top two favorite genres. This kicked some serious booty. Forewarning: the book has some bad language, adult situations, etc, etc. It's not a kids book. It is a witty, smart ass, roller coaster from start to finish with a lot of snark mixed in. Sometimes that snark is a little too much, but I loved it. The PI is witty and a good guy. You just want to root for him all the way through. His friends are definitely his kind of people, and they all have that same poor taste in jokes and way too much adult humor (in all the right ways). The story line was believable and it was fun. I enjoyed the book so much, I added the rest to my wishlist, and I'm not sure how much longer I can hold out. I saw this, and even though I hadn't read the other books, I had to give it a try. I'm so glad I did, and yes, you can follow along easily without having read the others. This is a stand alone novel. I highly recommend this book, though I might suggest you don't read it in public if you have a tendency to laugh out loud. I got some serious side eye. Ha, ha, ha.

Another Winner

I have listened to several of these Scott Jarvis books, so overall I do recommend them very much.

The one thing that always through me off somewhat is Lee Stayer's performance. He has become Jarvis to me, so I know what he will sound like in each new edition. What I can't quite figure out is if he is "acting" when he sound so choppy in his delivery as that the style they feel is right for the character, or does he really talk like that. Like I said I am used to it, but still think it a very strange style.
