Melody Hurst's days as a Southern belle are over. Now she's widowed and alone in the foothills of the Rockies, struggling to make a life in a dangerous world. She's determined to secure a future by marrying - but love is out of the question.
Cole Baywood has turned bounty hunter after serving in the horrors of the Civil War, but the ghosts of the men and women he's killed still haunt him. He's drawn to the beautiful widow trying to seduce him, only the darkness in his soul forces him to reject her. Is it possible that Melody's touch can heal the demons of his past? And how can he convince a woman who has lost so much to risk her heart?

The story itself had potential but it just sort of fell flat. Characters and sub-plots were introduced but never fully developed and then there was the abrupt ending.
I thought the narrator was fairly good. I've listened to better readers in the past but I've also listened to many more that were worse. All in all, I would listen to this narrator's work again.
Did I nod off and miss a few chapters?

So, here it is, the entire cast of characters: Cole, Melody, Annie, Steven, and Jimmy for a little while.
There was absolutely no sexual tension, no desire, no nothing in this book but then there was a certain kind of sex and a hand job between Cole and Melody, If you know what I mean. He didn't want to make love to her until after they told their family they were getting married. I thought that was kind of stupid, but that's just me.
As to the narration: Cam Drynan was just OK for me. He didn't read with much emotion, the women's voices need serious work, but Steven and Cole's voices were perfect. This is Cam Drynan's ONLY narration so there's nothing to compare any other readings with.
OK, not OK..
