Outstanding

Loved everything about this novel!! Such a strong and clever heroine!!! Bravo to both the author and the narrator!

Excellent! (really)

STORY: This is the first Kelly Bowen book I have come across and I hope there will be more. Finding this in the 'historical' romances is a tiny bit deceiving since there is no history of any kind whatsoever... not even a specific point in time that I can recall. It is definitely London.... Regency.... but a more unique HEA Mystery Romance in this genre I haven't seen in quite a while.

NARRATOR: Ashford McNab always delivers and this is another masterful performance. When you hear male and female, young and old, voices with such distinctive individuality you know you've struck gold.

HEAT FACTOR: Mature theme from the onset but heat? Yes, there is some true chemistry culminating in a few steamy scenes... scorching even!

CREDITWORTHY? YES!

I loved this story, it was cleaver and moved at a great pace. The narration for the female characters was good, you could tell the difference between characters and you could feel a little personality come thru in the readings. the male characters, however, are a different story! Male support characters were ok, the main character was AWFUL!!!! he sounded like a monotone dullard. I almost stopped halfway thru and returned the book because he was so painful to listen to. I ended up listening till the end, but i definitely will not be purchasing any other books featuring this reader! This listen had so much potential, I wish they had switched readers for the other books in the series. I would love to read them, but don't have time to sit and read so will not be purchasing them.

kelly bowen is a romance genius.

i just read all three books in this series. they are fantastic! the best regency romances i'v read on audible or anywhere. the reader, ashton mcnab, a woman, is the very best: brilliant!

Meh

The reader didn’t do a great job on the voices and the book itself wasn’t that great either. I like the way they portrayed the Dutches as not needing saving but more action portraying that and less coming right out and saying it would have been better. Glad the writer didn’t give in on the ending. Only reason I gave it 3 stars.

a new favorite author

Glad to find this book, really loved the story. The plot held my interest and there were some surprises. From the start I liked the main characters, always a plus. Have several other books performed by this narrator, she does a great job. Highly recommend this author and story.

Swashbuckling romance-intrigue and suspenseful.

This is not your typical romantic sexy couple. There is an actual story -a suspenseful mystery with lots of rich color and repartee between two main characters. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a very good fun story with lots of thrilling sexy bends in the road.

Loved it!

Finally a very good STORY! Kept my attention and I did not get bored halfway through it as I do on so many books. I love English historical romance stories, but for the last few years, they seem to have lost the story and replaced it with sex and no story.

Ashford McNab is a wonderful narrator.

I hope the rest of the series is just as good.

Fun but slow at first

Good book. A little slow to get going. Good narration. I enjoyed it but I probably won’t listen to it a second time.
