Acerca de esta escucha

A strange body that refuses to obey you; a weird game you can't quit until your contract expires; a world teeming with powerful and very real enemies. The game in which your reputation and faction relationship are the only things that matter. These are the conditions of the agreement Ruslan signs without reading.

The only thing he remembers is that he's been contracted to command a space fleet in a brand-new game he knows nothing about. Objective: to survive for six months. After having made some inevitable newbie mistakes, Ruslan has to rethink his strategy, dropping traditional gaming conventions. But what will it cost him? What new trials and tribulations await him that even the game designers have failed to anticipate?

This review will not have any spoilers. Just a straight to the point honest review.
I’ve listened to it twice over 3 days. And this is what I believe:
I really enjoyed the story! Lots of plots and intrigue. Strategy and hurt feelings. Basically how a fleet should be ran.
What I didn’t like about the story was there wasn’t a lot of info on the first game the character played. That would have prepared us for what the character was capable of doing. Bc in game he did more than I thought he was capable of doing. Other than that, my heads up to everyone is to listen carefully bc I found myself rewinding a lot to understand certain plots.
The narrator did good to me despite what others said. Only problem was when character switch from Game World to Real World there wasn’t a bridge in between.
To me this book seem more on the AOE / Star Trek side than Litrpg. But either readers would enjoy it.
Looking forward to getting the next book!

I picked this up after ready reality benders and I’m so glad I did. I love the mystery behind the game.

If you could sum up Sector Eight in three words, what would they be?

1second pause after each sentence. Every sentenses with the same intonation. Is that even a human reading? This is horrible. No quality control on this one.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Sector Eight?

I read the book. I know this story is really good.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Neil Hellegers?

Someone did a bad job with the audio. If i were M. Hellengers, I would be quite upset.

Any additional comments?

I think the audio format is damaged or raw. Wait for a corrected version or read the book.

Good story. Super bad audio.

This book had almost everything I wanted. No other litrpg has come close in presenting a grand strategy game like it! LIGHT SPOILER: However, throughout the first 2 books (I couldn't go further) --> I loved them so much I binged them both in 2 days. But, the MC is literally playing the game for someone else and thus it becomes SOOOOO annoying. Hate the author took that route. No reason for it.

Read with caution...

The whole social grading/credit aspect of it was somewhat off-putting due to it's capricious grading nature. I did enjoy the dynamics between the primary characters but this was a harem novel by any other name. The epilogue at the end of the series was more than a bit creepy, what with finding out a real life 13 year old playing an adult role and all that it entails.

This was an early Neil Hellegers performance and while it wasn't as refined as he deliveries are today, it still was a pleasurable listening experience.

I enjoyed the series but ...

As some other reviewers have stated the narration is just a bit bumpy, but you can tell that this is due to they way this book was written/translated. After I got use to the authors writing style this was a delight and I will be listening to the next book in the series.

Loved it...

The main character, Ruslan, is flippant and occasionally snarky, but he has a droll sense of humor that he carries into the game itself. This book definitely captured my attention from first page to last and prompted me to read the full series (3 books). I was NOT disappointed.

Addictive!
