When the Imagine Network commissioned a documentary on mermaids, to be filmed from the cruise ship Atargatis, they expected what they had always received before: an assortment of eyewitness reports that proved nothing, some footage that proved even less, and the kind of ratings that only came from peddling imaginary creatures to the masses.

They didn't expect actual mermaids. They certainly didn't expect those mermaids to have teeth.

This is the story of the Atargatis, lost at sea with all hands. Some have called it a hoax; others have called it a maritime tragedy. Whatever the truth may be, it will only be found below the bathypelagic zone in the Mariana Trench...and the depths are very good at keeping secrets.

This was an excellent short story. The narration was excellent as well. I’m glad I bought it and plan on getting the next one.

Very good

Good read. Although I wish there was more to it. I would like to see more of this story and other books. I’m hoping I see continued versions.

Good read! I wish there was more to this.

Definitely listen to main story first to avoid spoilers. Both are highly enjoyable and I wish there was more to the story.

I don’t really take time to review books since I burn through them but I absolutely love this short read began at work the last little bit of my shift and I stayed up just to finish it! I do wish the ending told us more but she did leave room for a next one! About to check out if there is a second one! Great buy for I think $3 thanks to a sale!

Worth it even though it’s short!

It had just enough detail to make it interesting, and left just enough mystery to keep it spooky and interesting. A lot of authors will spell things out for their readers but the best will give just enough that your own mind will fill in the details to make it even greater.

Even the short documentary style of the novel really aids in how the story is told. The reader is able to jump back and forth between cold hard details and actual events as the "documentary" references clips recovered after the fact.

In the end, I would recommend this story to anyone who loves a good short somewhat scary story, and to people who like a dash of ocean horror with their stories. Also, and it feels a bit weird to say it, but fans of the found footage genre of movies might enjoy this story as well!

I loved this book
