From Shani Struthers, author of The Haunting of Highdown Hall.

"This isn't a ghost we're dealing with. If only it were that simple…."

Eighteen years ago, when psychic Ruby Davis was a child, her mother - also a psychic - suffered a nervous breakdown. Ruby was never told why. "It won't help you to know," was the only answer she was ever given. Fast forward to the present and Ruby is earning a living from her gift, running a high street consultancy - Psychic Surveys - specialising in domestic spiritual clearance.

Boasting a strong track record, business is booming. Dealing with spirits has become routine, but there is more to the paranormal than even Ruby can imagine. Someone - something - stalks her, terrifying but also strangely familiar. Hiding in the shadows, it is fast becoming bolder. The only way to fight it is for the past to be revealed, no matter what the danger.

When you can see the light, you can see the darkness, too. And - sometimes - the darkness can see you.

The reader cannot help but to become caught up with the characters and stories. This is a great, thoughtful series. The narrator does an excellent job.

I love this series!

I must confess that it got me a little scared but I enjoyed the book. Perfect for Halloween. The story is something new and it seems like the main problem of that family is the lack of communication. Good that at the end they work together to overcome the danger they were facing.

A Little Scary but entertaining

The story was very good, though there were times it seemed to lose itself in the passage of time. Shani Struthers writes a good paranormal story that seems to have been well researched and well thought out.

The performance though for this book was rather annoying. There were times the audio became soft, as if the narrator didn't have her setup done properly and she leaned away from the microphone. other times, she seemed to have her mouth right on the microphone and was too loud. Sheila Dearden also made the main character very high pitchy and annoyingly childish this book.

The first book in the series was very well done, and was the whole reason I purchased the following books. But if I had listened to this one first, I would not have continued with how the narrator made Ruby and Carina sound almost exactly the same. Ruby sounded like she was 12, not an adult of 25. I hope the other books are more like the first one.

Worth the listen
