Rise of the Zombies (Book 3 of The Infected Series)

A failed biological attack ravaged the population of the world.
Millions dead, and millions more turned into feral creatures that spend their time hunting down survivors who are desperately trying to rebuild society and make a life for themselves.

Several years have passed since the majority of the infected population suddenly dropped out of sight.
With the threat seemingly abated, Hunter Ashcroft and other survivors begin to branch out in an effort to find other pockets of civilization.
During an expedition to explore the remnants of Nashville, Tennessee, they are surprised to find a thriving community of survivors.
College student turned scientist, Rachel Benchley is among the survivors. Her experiments on the infected revealed a possible explanation for their sudden mass disappearance years earlier. Instead of dying off as a result of the virus, they were evolving.

While popular fiction has many theories about how a zombie plague could descend upon the earth, those theories were easily discounted as just stories. Now, the survivors must prepare themselves as those stories to become reality as the dead return to life and stalk humans for a nourishing enzyme that will keep them alive.
It doesn’t take Hunter and his people long to learn while it appears on the surface that this sheltered colony have done remarkably well for themselves in this post-apocalyptic world, something sinister has been brewing within their ranks that even their own people were not aware of. As if the threat of a brewing zombie outbreak were not enough, they learn that their own kind is willing to sell their souls to the devil if that’s what it takes to ensure their survival.

Good story, but many holes and naive characters

These characters are all very naive characters. It's like they have no cognitive ability to think and determine what's going on. And the virtual voice narration wasn't as good as with other audio books I've listened to. This was probably due to spelling errors or using incorrect words at times; using words that sound similar to the intended word.

I'm still listening to it, and these characters are just plain stupid. No, that's not harsh enough, they are incredibly, moronically, stupid. still a good story.

A good beta and a decent narrator and this could have been a great series. I persevered because I really like the characters and story.
THe mispronunciations made me cringe -especially when it was a characters name.

I like the new twist on how the zombies were created and evolved. But the AI that read the book was awful . It took me out of the story every time it mispronounced a word or used the wrong inflection. If you’re going to use AI. To read a book then it needs to be written so that when it’s read by a computer, it will sound like it’s read by a person as in: if the sentence says “She the entire menu out loud”. You need to spell the word RED so that the AI reads it correctly. It used the wrong pronunciation for all words such as this as in read, live, bow, etc.. it also skipped words and just plain mispronounce others. I don’t know if that was because of typos, but if it were a person reading the book they would have known better. I found myself concentrating on all the mistakes and not listening to the story

The story was great the AI delivery was not great. Mispronunciations, incorrect inflection, and misappropriate pauses and breaks.
The AI took a pretty good story and turned it into unintended comedy.
