After the plane is discovered, a local villager is murdered—and suddenly what had appeared to be a failed enemy military operation takes on an even more sinister aspect. All Billy’s ex-Boston cop instincts are put to the test as he interviews the grieving, angry, and conniving citizens of this idyllic English country village in search of the truth.

The Series Never Disappoints

I have thoroughly enjoyed each book in this series. Mr. Benn always delivers fresh mysteries and plot twists for the reader.

Another Great Listen

Each time I listen to an installment, I say to myself, this is my favorite installment. I can say it again. A well thought out mystery that has Boyle and his supporting cast unraveling a murder mystery that spans over two years and links two murders. Narration is excellent as always as the author spins a great yarn. If you like the series, you will like this book.

On and on

Mister Benn once again entertains us while educating us as we move in the lesser known circles of World War Two. This tale which reads more like an Agatha Christie classic than a war mystery fulfills another chapter in the character who is Billy Boyle. Thank you James Benn.👍

Gripping action

No view of the frontispiece. A map of rhe Norfolk coast would enhance understanding.

I love Billy Boyle

I’m so glad to have yet one more Billy Boyle story with all the cast of characters.

Excellent as usual

Great story, great cast, great narration. The characters feel like family at this point and Peter brings them to life.

Different Tone but Excellent

this title is not as gritty as previous titles and yet the plot is just as well crafted and the characters are just as well developed. this is more of a traditional British style mystery in some ways and Mr. Ben handles it just as adeptly as he has all of his other plots that have oftentimes dealt with far more wrenching issues. very enjoyable and I listen to it in one sitting. unlike a lot of other things I do in my life, 11 hours well spent.
