Acerca de esta escucha

Murder, She Wrote meets The Odd Couple in award-winning author Laurien Berenson's brand-new mystery series, spun off from her much-loved Melanie Travis Canine series and featuring Melanie's elderly aunts-tough-as-nails Peg and soft-spoken Rose—who'll put their differences aside to stop a killer, if they don't throttle each other first.

Rose Donovan looks for the good in everyone. With her sister-in-law, Peg, that sometimes requires a lot of searching. Even a sixty-something former nun like Rose has her limits, and gruff Peg Turnbull sure knows how to push them. But after forty years of bickering, they're attempting to start over, partnering up to join the local bridge club.

Peg and Rose barely have a chance to celebrate their first win before one of the club's most accomplished players is killed in his home. As the newest members, the sisters-in-law come under scrutiny and decide to start some digging of their own. But as their suspect list narrows, they're unaware that their logic has a dangerous flaw. And they'll have to hope that their teamwork holds steady when they're confronted by a killer who's through with playing games . . .

Main character seemed to simply be a vessel for authors interest in dogs. supporting character seemed simply to provide the antithesis to main character. Easy listen, just not my cup of tea. I enjoy Anne George and Jo Dereske type of cozy mysteries

An ok read - characters not too relatable

I always a book by this author. It’s obvious Peg loves her dogs. She knows they’re dogs but they are her closest friends. The references to dogs are right on the money. You can tell she knows how dog people think.

I always love a good book

Although I have enjoyed the Melanie Travis Mysteries, this book was so awkward in the first half I would have sworn it was the author's first book. The mystery was enjoyable. The characters were extended from the author's MTM series so they should have been the same people. Although Rose appeared the same, the author tried to soften Peg. Part of Peg's charm is her unwavering belief that she is right. If you are going to start a new series and use some of the characters from the original series, you need to keep the characters, well, in character. In summery, the first half of the book was hard to stumble through but then the author found her stride and ended well.

Start of a new series felt like author's 1st book.

This new series is as good as her Melanie Travis series. The narrator did a great job too. I really enjoyed it!

I love everything she writes!

Like a tomato and a basbeball bat is how someone describes sisters-in-law Peg and Rose. Sparks fly when they first get together, but as they both delve into solving a murder mystery (in their own unique ways) they seem to grow closer. Poodle dogs play a small role in the story as well.
A satisfying plot, a little suspense, and some laughs. I enjoyed the read and discovered the killer only a few pages before Peg and Rose. Looking forward to another in the series.

A fun new sisters mystery

This book might be more likable if Rose wasn't in it. She's a self-righteous hypocrite. I missed Melanie. She's more likable.

Rose stinks!
