Historia
When Miyax walks out onto the frozen Alaskan tundra, she hopes she is leaving problems at home far behind. Raised in the ancient Eskimo ways, Miyax knows how to take care of herself. But as bitter Arctic winds efface the surface of food, she begins to fear for her life, and turns to a pack of wild wolves for help. Amaroq, the leader of the pack, eventually accepts Miyax as one of his own defenseless cubs, protecting her from danger and saving portions of the daily kill for her.

Hardly a day passes without Trille and Lena inventing some kind of adventure that often ends in trouble. Whether it's coaxing a cow onto a boat or tobogganing down the steepest and iciest hill with a chicken, there is always a thrill - and sometimes an injury - to be had. Trille loves to share everything with Lena, even Auntie Granny's waffles, which make everything just perfect. But when Lena has to move away, and Auntie Granny leaves the world, it sometimes seems nothing will ever be right again.

But when he comes across a baby owl that has fallen out of its nest, Borden can’t resist the tiny, elflike creature. And luckily this owlet doesn’t have spots, so it must be a barred owl - not the enemy. Borden takes the little owl home and names it Bardy. Before long, Bardy wins over each member of Borden’s owl-hating family.

One of the best books we’ve listened to!
We listened to the first book, My Side of the Mountain and loved it. This book, however, was so much richer—which is hard to believe I’m saying because the first book was SO good. The first book is more about life on the mountain and this book was a compelling and developing story. Many falconry and trail-finding details. We listened with our 4, 5, and 8 year olds. Everyone loved it!
