When Miyax walks out onto the frozen Alaskan tundra, she hopes she is leaving problems at home far behind. Raised in the ancient Eskimo ways, Miyax knows how to take care of herself. But as bitter Arctic winds efface the surface of food, she begins to fear for her life, and turns to a pack of wild wolves for help. Amaroq, the leader of the pack, eventually accepts Miyax as one of his own defenseless cubs, protecting her from danger and saving portions of the daily kill for her.

Man and his dog, the greatest bond.
This has always been one of my favorite stories since I was a boy. I remember wanting a dog like Old Yeller since I was old enough to read. The author does a great job at telling the story through the struggles a 19th century frontier family would go through, but still highlighting the good times they still had. It's a sad story, but it will also make you laugh.

The same story from my childhood, only on Audible. It's great. The ending is still a heart felt, tear jerker but this is how life is at times.

One of the Finest I’ve heard.
A timeless tale from the pioneer days, that will make feel as if you’ve lived there. Perfect narrator delivers a Real story as if you were hearing it from Travis (main character) himself.

loved this story and the way narrator read it. To me one of the very best written stories of a boy and his dog. Have owned me many old yellow dogs in my life. That was because of the movie. The book is a hundred times better
