So good!

I think this is my favorite in the series so far. I finished it last night, and I'm going to start it again today. Action packed Edward goodness!!! Hoping there's more like this and that Obsidian Butterfly makes another appearance.

This is the first of my favourites in the Anita Blake series.
Even though I miss JC being in the story, the guest characters (especially Olaf and Obsidian Butterfly), more than make up for his absence.
Even after reading the series through multiple times, this one still stands out for me.

One of my favorite Anita books.

This is the first book that is Edward centered. I lo e this one so much because this is before the books become extra sexual. This is Anita being herself, a bad a** vampire killer. You get to see her embrace her necromancy as it benefits her in finding the bad guy. I can say this book, Body Bones, Afliction, and Sucker Punch are my favorite in the series. They show Anita at her finest in my opinion.

Great as usual!

Kimberly Alexis is great as usual! I just wish they'd stop the background noise because it's usually too loud and downs out the narration.

I think this is probably my most favorite Anita Blake books or at least top 3. I love when Edward is in the story line.

back to the original Anita that is easy to love

great suspense thriller mixed with crime solving and preternatural horror. The perfect mix to have a villainous hero! The only annoying side to this performance is the cheesy music that pops in at predictable times. its obnoxious enough to distract from the seriousness of the story. other than that, this book excellent!

The Best in the Series because...

Would you consider the audio edition of Obsidian Butterfly to be better than the print version?

Yes.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The most interesting are the tactical gunfights/ scenes. The narrator, Kimberly Alexis brings you to the edge of your seat as she breathes life into LKH's words. Each character having their own 'voice' in a subtle way. The least interesting are the run on sentences Alexis has to read about Anita's thoughts and the personifications and analogies that get beaten like a badly made drum.

What about Kimberly Alexis’s performance did you like?

I love how she subtly creates character voices and is consistent with them as well as her pronunciation and as accurate as she can be with some of the accents. She doesn't overdo it. Its perfect.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I almost wished I could listen to it all in one sitting. I got audiobooks because I found they kept me awake on the drive home from work. (hour plus commute). I listened on the way in and started dragging my kindle into work, setting it up and listening during points of the day I could. by the time I got home at night, I would sit in the car just to hear another few minutes of the book.

Any additional comments?

This is the best in the series. I have trusted my fellow readers thus far in this series. I began reading them and decided to try the audiobooks. I am glad this one doesn't have any of the main' character's overly complicated and soap opera-ish love story in it. New characters and settings that let me have faith there is more in LKH's mind than fifty shades of grey meets twilight. ((ive read neither series but thats the best my wit can manage)) I really enjoy the character's but I get tired of LKH's insistence in Anita's ego. We get it, she is bad ass and oh so sexy. I love to hate Anita at times and so LKH is doing exactly what she is supposed to be doing, evoking emotion through her talent. I just wish the conversational filler about how bad ass Anita is would be reduced, leaving room for more descriptions or even more mini-storylines.

Great Book!

This was a good book too, just as good as all the previous ones, I am a little bummed that they don't have book 10 on Audible, If I had noticed that I would never have started purchasing the series. I can't go on now until they get it. Probably just as well, spent enough money on this series in one month. Wow. I can't even add it to my wish list. No more books for me.
