Loving the checklists!

Having a book like this as a resource for new moms is awesome. My kids are older, and I can tell you there were no other books out there except the good old what to expect when expecting. This book is so much different and resonated with me as I listened to chapter by chapter. As a mom with older kids, I remember the uncertainty of not knowing exactly how many baby clothes to buy or what essentials were really essentials vs what looked useful. This book helps take the guesswork out of the equation and provides clear and concise checklists that would have saved me a lot of time and money during my first pregnancy.

Listening to what to pack in my hospital back made me laugh because i just remember how unorganized I was and even forgot extra clothes for me and a newborn outfit for my daughter. The book lays out everything you need so you can focus on what's important which is bonding with your newborn.

The author does a great job of discussing postpartum care as this can be forgotten as you are trying to not focus on another human being. Every mom needs access to this kind of support and information. While I am way past diapers, hearing this information took me back to those days and my struggles. Super comprehensive for moms-to-be!

As someone who hopes to be a mother one day, I'm really grateful for this book. I've read a couple of books on preparing to give birth but this is the first book that goes in-depth on how to take care of a new-born. It leave no stones unturned by teaching you how to prepare for your new-born at home. There is also a chapter on telling you to communicate with your spouse as being a parent is a teamwork thing. The author gave clear tips on how to do this such as setting expectations, how to get support like daycare etc. I also really appreciate chapter 7 on taking care of my mental health. I've heard that post-partum depression is a real thing and I like the tips on taking time for myself by letting my family to help me with the newborn while going out a date with my spouse or friends and NOT feeling guilty about it. All in all, this book is a super comprehensive guide that i will be going back to when I have my baby! :)
