Great story!

Bought this for my son for Christmas and he loved it and wanted the next one ASAP.

good but short

really really good but the end feels rushed, like they were up on their deadline. easily could have been longer.

Great beginning to a new litrpg series!

This is a great first step in a new litrpg world, I can't wait to see what the future will bring in this series!!

Leaves you wanting more.

Didn't know what to expect with this new author new to me. But I wasn't disappointed although short this book is a great read and leaves you wanting to dive into the next installment in the series. I know I can't wait to read what happens next with Ethan.

good listen

If I have a complaint it is that it was too short and leaves me wanting more. I enjoyed the book and I am looking for the next one.

The beginning to a potentially great series

Okay, so this has a really good premise to it. I like how it starts off as similar to other LitRPG virtual reality books, but puts a different twist on it. This is a story that the MC has a much more invested interest in the world he finds himself in. There were times that the MC was a bit whiny and did seem to switch how he felt about his circumstances rather quickly and almost nonchalantly. Of course this can be argued that it was solely character growth, which I do see. The world development was pretty good and the other characters were at times fantastic and well done.
Overall I did like the book, but I do agree with others that said the book was a bit short. It could have been fleshed out more or other situations described/added to it. I feel that since this was released before, it was during the time when newly emerging authors tended to write shorter stories. I do look forward to the remaining books in the series as I want to see what takes place.
As far as the narration goes, absolutely fantastic! I really enjoyed Travis' take on the different characters and I felt he did a great job, especially with Bernard! A great, though regrettably, short story.

A great starter litRPG

Want to get into the already saturated genre of litrpg and dont know where to start? look no further! Mythian is a good read (or listen) for both new and old to the genre. With an interesting story that is easy to get into and simplified rpg terminology without being overly handholdy. The only con imo is the length of the story. I usually get books that are around 9 to 12 hours long, which is also making me hesitant to buy book 2 and 3.

A great, but short start to a new series

This is a great new series with a few interesting premise on the game of the story. This society takes it’s undesirable citizens and imports them into a game or paradise fantasy of their choice. Ethan is old and unemployable. He has no interest in these. However, his wife passed away and is inside one of these games. Ethan has to find her.

This is a great start to the series. Excellently written and performed! The only reason that this is not a 5 star review is the book length. At 5.5 hours long this one goes by quick!

Great LITRPG series in the making

Welcome to book one in what promises to be a great series. The MC is a man whose wife has passed away...he receives a message that a mysterious benefactor has installed her consciousness into one of the afterlife game worlds, Mythian. He must end his life early enter the game level up to 25 before his in game contact will help him find his way to his wife. He, of course, isn’t alone in this game. Some will help some will hinder. He will be faced with many choices including those that may delay his finding his wife. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

A Decent Beginning, but....

I bought this book knowing full well that it was less than 6hrs long. Therefore, I was worried about the pacing of the story despite it being part of a series. I was right to worry. The beginning was well developed with a good character introduction and setting. However, around the middle of the book is when character development started to feel rushed and the plot began to unravel. The MC's goal is to find his wife and the only way to do that is too power level. Yet he constantly gets distracted and it's like the author has to quickly pull him back on track with some half-baked reasoning. At some point in the middle of this novel, I lost all interest in the MC. However by the end of the novel, I hated the MC. He forsakes all his morality and human decency for shortcuts to power. We are constantly reminded of his goal to find his wife, but the lack of urgency paints the MC actions in a distasteful light. I was hoping for a fresh take on Litrpg but this just wasn't my cup of tea. P.S. Travis Baldree is an amazing narrator!
