Latched onto my heart & gave it a vicious squeeze

This powerful romance latched right onto my heart and gave it a vicious squeeze. I adored Alec and Lexi and man, oh man did my heart hurt for them. Friends to lovers is one of my favorites tropes simply because it is always so emotion fueled and this book absolutely fit that description to a t!. Being torn between going for the love you yearn for and the friendship that is as vital to you as air is never a simple thing and always 100% gut wrenching. This story gives you all that but adds additional drama and raises the stakes by taking things to a whole other level of intensity. I enjoyed the narrator's performance and found their voice easy to listen to.

After reading the book a while ago, I was now listening to it.
And it's still just a beautiful story.

After Lexi and Alec confessed their love, their life becomes a whirlwind of emotions.
They go through thick and thin together.

Beautiful and Emotional Friends to Lovers Story

Loved it! This is a beautiful, emotional story about two best friends and unconditional love. About overcoming pain and trauma. Story about the importance of family and friends.

Sweet and emotional read

I have already read this book and so I love the characters and the story but I wanted to listen to it as well. It’s a dual first person POV book but read by one narrator. He overall does a wonderful job with the narration, speaking clearly and conveying emotions of all the characters. The only thing that got me was that his female voices were super high pitched, almost to the point of unbelievable and when the character would shout or get excited it would go even higher so it was bit much but most of the time he did alright. He kind of made Lexi sound like a bitchy cheerleader at first but found his groove a little into the book and toned it down since that’s not her personality at all.

So raw!

Oh my stars. Nikki Ash once again weaves such a stunning tale. This time it is a friends to lovers one with that surprise pregnancy. But what she does with this one is so emotional and so raw that you cannot help but fall in love with Lexi and Alec. With the narration, you feel the depth of this story just that much more. I found myself lost in the audio. These two just make sense. Their push and pull even as much as they try to deny it to everything else. My heart ached as things progressed. Especially for everything Lexi is going through. But there is just magic between them. It is raw and emotional but the way he holds her up is just everything!
One thing Ash is the master of is building up these emotions while keeping the concept of the surprise pregnancy fresh and unique. I felt what the characters felt and with hearing it, I found that it was just as amazing as reading it. I wanted to just make them happy and nothing would hurt them. Ash took something and created something magical and very real with this story and so far, this series as a whole. I am dying to get my hands on the next one but Alec has really won my heart!
