Poor attempts at Victorian London English syntax and vocabulary. Anachronisms and Americanisms ruin characterisation.
Poor research...apparently Galway (Western Ireland) is in some region to the North of London :):)

One of my least favorites

This one was depressing and I didn't find the resolution very descriptive or convincing. Betsy / Smythe / Blimpie personal drama was not interesting. Also I missed lutie belle and hatchett. Ruth Cannonbury is not a very compelling character.
