Diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, 10-year-old Caitlin faces a range of social and emotional challenges. The unexpected death of her caring brother makes matters even worse, but will the memory of his words of wisdom and the help of a compassionate counselor be enough to enable her to connect with others?

I absolutely loved this book and will recommend it to my students. After teaching to kill a mockingbird to middle schoolers for years, I’m eager to share this connection with my younger students this year. And Caitlin’s story and journal to closure and healing is beautiful. I cried and laughed at different moments. However, I did not like the audio. In fact, I sped it up to get through it faster. The voice of this reader was not the right fit for the protagonist. First, it sounded too old, grandmotherly with the twang. And also, the emphasis on many word in dialogue by Caitlin and Michael were not accurate for A) a child with Aspergers and B) a 1st grader. I hope it can be done with a vivid thar is a better fit for the narrator especially.

LOVE the story, not the voice.

This book helped healed my inner child ( I have ADHD and Autism). It’s such a beautiful story because it teaching people how to be kinder to and to understand people who are going through grief or have a different ability.

So beautiful

This story not only deals with sorrow and sadness brought on by tragedy, but how a child with autism might think about sick trauma.

I'm in love with this book!
