Beautiful story

Beautiful story with a really great narrator. I’ve traveled in this area-this story took me back there.

Fantastic listening experience

It was great to see that a recommendation to Audible resulted in this story's addition to the Audible collection. This is a beautiful book which is, on the one hand, a meditation on faith and the clash of cultures, and on the other, a suspenseful and a painful testament to history whereby a First Nations people tries to hold on to the old ways in the face of the inevitable advancement of modern life and culture.

I remember while driving home from a family vacation hanging on to every word as the story reached its conclusion. My hope being that we wouldn't reach our destination before the story ended. I highly recommend this book with its terrific narration. It draws you into the world and characters with compassion and simplicity.

I rarely re-read a book, but I will certainly be listening to this one again.

This book was required reading in my school, but revisiting it as a mature woman was fulfilling. I was reminded of what is important.

One of best books ... I re-read it every year

One of the best books I have ever read (& I read 70 or so every year) ... I re-read it every year in order to get re-grounded in life ... to learn enough about life to be ready to die.

A timeless classic read by the most gifted of readers, in my opinion.

Unfortunately I am not finding the words to convey the beauty of this book. That doesn’t negate the transformative nature of a book filled with the simple joys and raw sorrows of an isolated village and the humble young man who entered this world a stranger but became one of its own. I laughed several times while listening, but now I’m moved to tears because I can never hear this book for the first time. I know I will listen again probably yearly because I read someone say it is their yearly ritual reading this book, and now I know why.

Frank Muller was at the top of his game —extraordinarily, actually, in bringing this beautiful book to life.

The plot and characters and main thrust of the story are written elsewhere so there is no need to tell you that. Don’t listen unless you wish to make your world, whatever it is, go away for a brief time. When you return to it, your heart will be somehow changed for the better.

I love this story.
It has given me a desire to treat others with a grace and respect beyond my previous understanding. What the characters said was very engaging. The author also made me aware of the importance of what the individuals refrained from saying or doing.
I thank the author for her inspired ability to teach while rendering an entertaining and beautifully written book. You will be better for having read it.
