Loving this series

Jodi Burnett has captured my attention with this series. I absolutely love Renegade. He is such a loyal dog and a great partner. While out with his handler Caitlyn Reed, Renegade finds a high heeled shoe. The next thing they know Colt & Caitlyn have a murder to solve with not much to go on. It will be difficult but they have hope of solving it. While this is happening, Colt must be on top of his game biecause the new doctor in town has his eyes set on Caitlyn. There is also a vote going on for a new sheriff just to add some spice to the story. An excellent story and a must read.

Good story and believable mystery as well

I enjoy following up on characters from previous listens it definitely adds depth to the stories

Excellent addition to the series!

I’ve been racking my brain for why I’ve enjoyed the Tin Star K9 series books so much and I finally realized it is because they don’t easily fit int a single genre…. Sure, there is mystery, some thriller elements and suspense, but there is also a bit of romance not to mention being less gritty or dark like most police/murder related thrillers.

Reading Maverick felt like visiting the small town where I grew up, the cast of characters was very familiar having previously read Renegade and the interaction of the characters is authentic to a small town where everyone knows everyone’s business moments after it occurs.

If you have read Renegade, do yourself a favor and read maverick you won’t be sorry, if you are looking for a new author/series you could read Maverick as a stand-alone story, but you would miss out on everyone’s background and how Caitlyn and Renegade became a part of the Sheriff’s department.

I listened to the audiobook version of Maverick and once again Joyce Oben has done an excellent job of not only bringing the character to life, but the overall story as well.

Simply outstanding!

Maverick (Tin Star K9, #2), my ninth read from author Jodi Burnett. I read my first book from her back in January & this book looks to continue the trend of well-written, enjoyable books. This book caught my attention in the opening pages & I never put it down until completed. I especially enjoyed the narrative talents of Joyce Oben whose voice again made an excellent book even better. “I received a free Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author! The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Suspenseful

I absolutely enjoyed this story. The Narrator tells us the story of Deputy Reed and his K9. They pursue a murder and try to find out the truth. Fast paced.

Exciting Suspenseful and action-packed!

Maverik, Book
Of the TinStar K-9 series by Jodi Burnett, is as enthralling as book 1 Renegade . The characters are well-developed and relatable. So real in fact, I find myself yelling at the characters when they perform in a manner I don't like - especially when Caitlin Reed refuses to admit how much she still loves Colt the sheriff and her boss.

The action in this book is fast-paced. The clues and evidence constantly being shuffled around like a deck of cards! it is a great technique for keeping a reader on their toes! I kept guessing "whodunit" till the very last word!

The narration was well done. The narrators voice was clear and crisp with the right speed to match the audience response. I find the voice of Caitlin to be a little abrasive, too young for the adult being portrayed. it is not quite fingernails on a chalkboard- not quite but close!

Overall, a good listen that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the last word is uttered!

Entertaining--I love Ren!

A cute story about a small town sheriff's office, unrequited love, and a great dog! I liked this one more than the first, because it, like its main character, Catie, had more focus, and it was hard to figure out "who done it." And I like the independence, or desire for independence, that Catie has, not wanting others to rule her life. And I love her dog, Renegade, who looks after her at all costs.

Renegade the protector

I enjoyed this book by Jodi Burnett. it continues Catilyn Reed's story as a now deputy sheriff with her K-9 dog, Renegade. While I did enjoy the story, the police procedures and the K-9 training details, I found Caitlyn's Maverick attitude a bit annoying for a new law enforcement agent. I suspect part of that is due how I perceived the narrator's tone of voice for Caitlyn which at times sounded child like instead of professional. That could also be attributed to the fact that, besides trying to solve a murder, Caitlyn is working for her high school sweetheart, Colt Brandon. They are working to restore trust in their relationship while navigating murders and the handsome nephew of the town doctor. Blake is visiting to see if he wants to take over his uncle's practice and develops an interest in Caitlyn. Things heat up with an attack. Renegade is instrumental in helping solve the case. The different voices by the narrator were nicely done. Do Caitlyn and Colt have a HEA? Future books, which I haven't yet read, may provide that answer, along with more excitement and more Renegade, of course.

Absorbing Mystery

I enjoyed this second book in the "Tin Star K9 Series" as much as book one. I was captivated by the opening paragraphs until the very end of the story and listened to the audiobook in one sitting. Caitlyn has all the personality traits of my favorite type of heroine. She is intelligent, brave, and passionate. I was entertained by the way the story was like a teeter totter and I was never quite sure how the story would end. Joyce Oben's narration was good and enhanced the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.
