Not the typical cowboy story

The narrator was excellent. The characters came to life with McMurtrys beautiful prose. A story of life with all its joys and regrets and failings.

I have two healthy daughters, a beautiful wife but those come second to having the honor of being the first person to review this version of one of the best epics ever written. It's lonesome dove read to you by the heavenly voice of Mr. Patton, what else needs to be said?

My new favorite book of all time. Perfect narrator

Stop everything else you’re doing and buy this audiobook.

The narrator is perfect and the story is the best epic western I’ve ever read. (If you can’t place the narrators voice, he’s the assistant coach beside Denzel in Remember the Titans among other popular films).

Years ago I watched the Lonesome dove mini series with my grandfather. It was pretty good, but didn’t impact me like this books did. Maybe because it’s 30+ years old, but There’s so much more depth to the characters in the book. Someone mentioned the characters feel more like real people than actual people. I don’t know why but it’s true.

This novel made me laugh, made me cry, made me angry, and made me think about how I live my life. I absolutely adored this read. I hope you like it, too!

What’s better than my favorite book of all time? My favorite book of all time read by the fabulous Will Patton!! Epic!!

Masterful narration of a masterpiece

The previously available audio version of this title was so disappointing due mainly to technical issues and the age of the original recording. Here we have a clean, clear listen, but more importantly, a master voice actor who brings these characters to life. This is easily one of my top five books of all time. What a joy to find such a fantastic audio version now available. I would envision myself returning to this again and again.

This review is for Will Pattons narration for Lonesome Dove, This is my second listen added to my physical readings while watching the movie so many times I know the lines by heart and cry every time. You can't get any better than this. Excellent story, best Western ever!!! Will Patton is up there with George Guidall... non better than them.

Incredible story, exemplary narration

The story is timeless and utterly captivating. A proverbial page turner. But Will Patton's performance really is in a league of its own. He made Larry's work come to life and brought out each character's personality so seamlessly, I felt like I knew Gus and Call.

Perfect in everyway

I began to listen to this audiobook on my cross country drive from San Diego to Kentucky and it just made the whole experience perfect as I would often see signs for cities mentioned in the story

Amazing!! Might me my favorite book of all time!

Larry McMurtrys dialogue is like no one else’s! It’s an amazing story, incredible characters, and he is able to reach many emotions including laughter, sadness and more.

PUMP THE BRAKES!

Do NOT listen to the author’s message at beginning. He gives out MAJOR spoilers that honestly ruined parts of this novel for me. So disappointing because the story and narration are terrific!
