My adoration for Pat Conroy

I can’t begin to describe the love I have for this book and the movie…This audible version is excellent…A master of the English language Mr.Pat Conroy is sorely missed…The only one close is James Lee Burke….Rest in Peace Mr. Conroy…you definitely left a mark!!

Best listen I’ve ever had

I recently moved to Fripp Island in the Low Country. I heard so much about this book and Pat Conroy, but only had seen the movie. Now that I’ve listened to the book, I’m in awe of everything about this incredible story. The movie was ok, but didn’t even come close to bringing these characters to life in the vivid language that Conroy used to bring the reader into the story. Best book I’ve read (listened to) in years.

Returned & loved it more

I loved listening to this book after returning to it after 40 or so years. Alan Carlson brought this wonderful story to life.

You can get most in this book. The narrator is amazing. The turn of phrase tingles the mind.

Brilliant — it holds up

I revisited this book in audio version and am so glad I did. It’s a beautiful story and is narrated perfectly in this production. If you’ve only ever seen the film, you owe it to yourself to read or listen to the book. The story is much fuller and more resonant.

Best book by best author ever!!!!

So well written. Brilliant. Makes you love the low country! Fabulous characters. Keeps your attention all the way through. Loved it!!

A great saga

I agree that those with depression should listen later. A beautiful use of language; great character development; painful in many parts. So many illustrations of mental illness from narcissism to psychosis and how the illnesses impacted a man’s ability to define himself. Very impactful, will listen again. I thought the narration was fine, female voices weren’t girlie girlie but for the characters portrayed the voices were a good fit.

The Prince of Tides

One of the best creative wording works of art that I have read. The writing is enriching and masterful talking into the life of the Wingos. For me one of the best reads in it’s own unique beautiful vivid way.
