So heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. Truly gives you hope for humanity. This author is one special human being - different than most of us. He is also an excellent narrator. I felt like I personally knew everyone in this story -it pulls you in emotionally on many levels. Don’t miss this one.

Great Book

This was perhaps the best book that I’ve listened to on Audible. It was very well written and read. It was interesting, enlightening, and uplifting. Cudos to Conor Grennan for his work and his story about it.

I loved being able to observe through Connors narration the mental and spiritual growth that he experienced as he grew through this journey.

What does Conor Grennan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The Nepalese voices and interaction with the children would have been difficult for a narrator to relay effectively if they had not experienced it.

This book moved me. I could see their little faces and could feel the emotion while I listened to the author narrate.

Beautifully told, heart wrenching, and inspiring!

An incredible story which had me in tears several times per chapter. The author does a beautiful job recounting his story and bringing the characters to life. It is impossible not to be moved by his experience and inspired by his conviction and perseverance.

I wish I were like Mr Grennan.

About 8 years ago I read the book Three Cups of Tea for a bookclub I was part of. I really hated the book. I went into it hoping to learn more about the Middle East and all that was happening there. I hoped to learn about the people and the culture. Instead I went away slightly disgusted -- it felt like nothing more than a vanity project. I was shocked that so many loved it as I found it manipulative, and I didn't believe it. I felt that the author was giving himself a big pat on the back and asking me to do the same. I regretted giving him my money.

So I was slightly worried that this book would leave me feeling similarly. However this book was wonderful. Mr Grennan allowed me to taste the food of Nepal. He allowed me to feel the pain in my knees when hiking the mountainous terrain. He let me picture the dusty roads. While reading his loving tribute to these children I was enthralled with love for the sweet little children and for their parents who acted with such desperate love. He made me wish that I had been part of his quest. I was inspired to think more about what I can do to make the world a better place. I was enchanted by his loving story of these Nepalese children.

I am also glad that he narrated it himself as only he could mimic these events with so much heart.

What did you like best about this story?

The fact that it was believable. It was about an everyday guy who did a great thing, even if he did so for the wrong reasons at first.

Wow. Just, wow.

I loved this book. Connor's story telling is fantastic and is certainly bolstered by his comedic timing and loving impressions of the children. I laughed a lot and I also cried. Thank you for sharing.
