My favorite author does it again

This is another great book in the Astra academy series. The only knock I have is this one book you need to have read the others to really enjoy. She does a great job of summarizing but so much is dependent on the past books. Hopefully you have read them all like me and you can enjoy all the small Easter eggs and storylines coming together. If you haven’t experienced her work do it you won’t regret it. The main character has become my favorite fantasy character.

New voice doesn't ruin a good book.

the story is great, as always with Shami Stovall. The new voice is not impressive. His reading of the book wasn't horrible, but keeping the voices consistent and varied was not his strong suite, at least in this book (I haven't heard him read other books). I was confused at times ,at who was talking, due to him changing accents to characters (mid conversation) and sometimes even using his "girl voice" for male characters (briefly). Over all it was still easy to follow and enjoy the story even with a few hiccups here and there.

Different but not horrible

The narrator was ok at best and messed up some names but he wasn’t horrible. amazing story though as always.

Ruined

5 books in changed the narrator and hes terrible barly changes his voice for the character and his female voices are nonexistent or horrid. story is always good.

New narrator iffy

I love these stories, ever since the first set of eight books. But now being five books in and this new reader is rough to listen to. Most characters have new voices entirely, and doesn't feel great. Even the pronunciation of words throws me off.

Be prepared, all the feminine voices are suddenly male, sort of ruins their character.

Its a shame with this new narrator, but I'll finish this series out. Doubtful I'll re-listen to the series afterwards.
