Les Bohem

About the Creator

Les Bohem was part of the great Los Angeles music scare of the early 1980s. His band, Gleaming Spires, had a cultish hit with their single, "Are You Ready For the Sex Girls". At the same time, he was holding down a day job as the bass player with the legendary band, Sparks. After this burgeoning career in rock and roll stopped burgeoning, Les started writing. He has written a lot of movies and TV shows including Twenty Bucks, Daylight, Dante’s Peak, The Alamo, and the mini-series, Taken, which he wrote and executive produced with Steven Spielberg and for which he won an Emmy award. He has had songs recorded by Emmylou Harris, Randy Travis, Freddy Fender, Steve Gillette, Johnette Napolitano, and Alvin (of the Chipmunks). His first solo album, Moved to Duarte, was released last year to rave reviews and absolutely no sales or downloads.

A Great Follow Up To “Junk”

Fun, biting, satiric, Bohem hits all the right notes in this story of a dystopian near future. He found his inner motherf******. Listen to it and you’ll know what I mean. An entertaining follow up to his novel “Junk”, but stands in its own as well.

Delightful Story in a Nutshell

Loved the addition to Junk! Although, it stands on it’s own two feet apart from Junk. It’s a concentrated, complete story on it’s own. Interesting and captivating.

Also, please write more like Junk :) it was fantastic

Yet another strong Audible original.

Audible Originals continue to impress, and this is a prime example. Short, sharp, and interesting. That said, the plot somewhat meanders, which a short story can ill afford. It was a solid distraction for a long day walking. Recommended.

Good listen

The fact that this storyline follows an inmate who was incarcerated during a pandemic that killed a third of the world was interesting. He went in because he committed fraud, only to come out and find another way to convince people he was redeemed and here to help again.
I got lost once and had to backtrack but it was different to hear things from a “con man’s” POV. Selling snake oil in the midst of chaos. It’s completely true and spot on. That ending though…

Follow-up to "Junk"

This was disappointing after having listened to "Junk" by Les Bohem first. The initial story was well paced and intricate. "Jive" had an appropriate title, as Dr. Stewart was a charlatan, but there was no heart in this story.

abrupt ending

Not surprised at ending but some of it seemed like an afterthought. Still enjoyed it

Les Bohem scores again

Another terrific read by master storyteller Les Bohem. To fully appreciate this book, read “Junk” first.
