Second Chance Romance w loads of spice

this is a second chance, rockstar, professor/student romance.
Sophie the pop star who leaves the limelight to go back to school and get her degree where she runs into her highschool best friend Connor, who is her professor and hasn’t quite gotten over his feelings for Sophie.

i did listen to this as an ALC- narration was executed exceptionally well by June Deborahae as Sophie and James Cassidy as Connor. June portrayed Sophie’s attitude perfectly and James dominated Connor’s growly persona. i truthfully believe the audiobook made me want to keep reading, they portrayed the characters emotions so well and the duet narration really helped with the push and pull.

now, im giving this a 3.5- the story itself wasn’t really for me. the narration is what kept me invested in the story but i didn’t really love Sophie as a character and i felt like there was a lot of drawn out sex scenes when we should have been getting more plot than spice. don’t get me wrong, i loveee a spicy book but when the book has a plot that is very important to the story and im not getting enough information i find i skim a lot of the spice.

all in all- i loved the narration, the story was definitely steamy and it lived up to the second chance romance genre.

Spicy Second Chance Pop Star Romance

Book 2 of the Kings of Capital series captured my attention and I seriously considered taking a day off from work just to listen. The writing is brilliant, focusing on the relationship between Sophie Strong, disgraced pop-star, and her former best friend, Connor Driscoll. As the story unfolds in both current time and flashbacks, we find a tangled story of a manipulated teen girl just looking for her break into the music business. The levels of manipulation go far deeper than the reader could imagine. Ivy writes villains incredibly well, and there are an abundance in this story. Toss in Skylar, the quirky best friend and valiant champion of Sophie, and you've got a fabulous story.

I read a lot of romance, so steamy scenes are not new to me. However, this book elevated those scenes. CHAPTER 13. M'AM. Ivy's carefully crafted spicy details paint quite the erotic scene. You can tell that Sophie and Connor were simply marking time in their lives until they found their way back to each other. Once they do, their chemistry is electric and you can't but fall in love with the way they love each other.

The narration for this story is fantastic. June DeBorahae and James Cassidy are magic in this duet narration. June captures something special and just IS Sophie. James gives a great performance as Connor, but really shines as the skeevy music producers. He creeped me out in the way his narration should have. I can't wait to jump into book 3!

I enjoyed this story, it was fast paced and got you where you needed to go. It was emotional and growth of people's minds and hearts.

solid second-chance romance

Infamous by Ivy Wild is a second-chance romance with all the hallmarks—old friends, unresolved feelings, and chemistry that refuses to stay buried. Sophie, a pop star who burned too bright and fell hard, comes back to finish her degree and escape the chaos of fame. What she doesn’t expect is to run headfirst into Connor, the boy she left behind. Except now, Connor isn’t that quiet college best friend anymore. He’s successful, confident, and still deeply in love with her.

Let me start with my favorite part: the narration. I already knew it was with two of my favorite voice actors, but this was my first experience listening to June Deborahae and James Cassidy together, and they delivered. June brought Sophie’s frustration, shame, and her softer moments of longing to life so well. James Cassidy as Connor? Absolutely nailed the balance between protective alpha and wounded best friend. His delivery made Connor’s dirty talk and fierce devotion even more addictive. The duet narration really made the push-and-pull between Sophie and Connor come alive, and I think their performances elevated the whole story.

While I enjoyed this book, the pacing sometimes stumbled under the weight of too many drawn-out sex scenes. Don’t get me wrong, I love steam, but there were moments I wanted a little more focus on the external conflict and emotional fallout. A bit more balance between plot and passion would’ve pushed this for me.

Overall, Infamous is a pretty solid second-chance romance with unforgettable steam, a hero worth swooning over, and narration that brings the characters to life. I didn’t fully connect with all aspects of the story, and I would’ve loved a bit more balance between the passion and the plot, but I still really enjoyed the ride. A good read I’d recommend to fans of steamy, drama-tinged romances, especially in audio.
