DRAMA. HOCKEY. ROMANCE. BATTLES ON AND OFF THE ICE.
“I thought this was going to be the story about how I lost Jack, but it’s not. It’s the story about how I found my way to you.”
Rhett
I’ve made the biggest mistake of my life and I can only hope it’s not too late for me to redeem myself. All my future plans included building a life with Jack, but now he’s playing house with some second-rate hockey coach he thinks he’s in love with.
I want him back, and when my father’s misguided effort backfires, the perfect solution skates right into my life.
Logan
When no one cared about me, my half-brother, Mercy, took me in, loving me as if we’d been siblings all our lives instead of just a couple of short weeks. He’s sunshine. I want to stay close to him, but I know it’s only a matter of time before I become a stain on his perfect life.
Speaking of sunshine, it would be a lot better for me if a certain ray of sunshine, Jack Leslie, were out of the picture. When the hockey God himself, Rhett, makes me a proposition, I know I can’t refuse, even if it means I’m going to hell for it.
Ice Dance Hockey is a fake boyfriend book, with lots of catastrophes, some angst, and much hijinks.
We get to peek in on the lives of Jack and Mercy as Rhett and Logan stumble their way into a love they never knew could exist.
Oh, and of course, it contains the caretaking dynamic Mock (S. Legend and Canadian) is known best for.

I don’t even know where to start with this review cause the whole book was 🧑🍳💋!!! I appreciate the fact that the author continued the loving & growing relationship of Mercy, Jack & baby Stan while diving deep into the love story of Rhett & Logan! Rhett went from being highly disliked in book 1 to being absolutely perfect!! Almost wished Jack would go back to him but totally get and approve of why everyone ended up with their loves!
Without giving the goods away, yall must be prepared to laugh a lot, cry, be in shock, roll your eyes, yell and whatever other actions you feel acceptable for this book! It had it all! Well done to S.Legend for this masterpiece!
Absolutely Fantastic!!!! Wow!!!

I started this book not liking Rhett. He was arrogant and selfish and wanted to break up Jack and Mercy so he could have Jack back (even though he didn't really deserve Jack based their history in book 1). But that changed over time as he became soft for Logan and it brought out a caretaker vibe that I loved.
Logan was like a hissing kitten. Wanting so hard to belong and feel welcomed, wanted, loved but not knowing how to accept those things. Seeing his trust build with Rhett, seeing him become vulnerable with the whole family clan and confiding in Jack, it was so rewarding. He really did flourish and find his own strength of self.
I absolutely love found family as a trope and both the family aspect for Mercy's clan as well as Jack's teammates. It makes me all warm and fuzzy.
The audiobook was performed in duet by Ryan Lee Dunlap and Walker Williams. Ryan did a great job as wounded prickly Logan. The way he made me feel all his false bravado, his desperation and his lonely longing, it was made all the sweeter by the joy of acceptance and peace at the end. Walker's deep tone was alarmingly good at giving arrogant and pompous in the beginning. He made me fall for Rhett as he opened up, became self aware and genuinely cared for Logan. I could hear the growth.
I requested and was provided with an advanced copy of the audiobook. These are my honest opinions.

Ice Dance Hockey is the second book in the Heartbreak Hockey series. This is Rhett and Logan’s book. We meet Rhett in book one. He is Jack’s ex-boyfriend. He is still obsessed with him and still thinks there may be a chance they end up together. Rhett is the governor’s son. He was born into a wealthy family and then invested all of his hockey money. He is an extremely wealthy twenty-five-year-old. We also get a glimpse of Logan at the end of book one. He is the half-brother of Mercy. Mercy’s mom asks if Logan can come stay with him and Jack for the summer before college. Logan is an elite ice dancer. He has received a scholarship to New York; the only problem is he has to live on campus the first year. Logan’s mom gambled all of his living expenses away. Now he has to find a way to make cash fast. Rhett’s father is determined to get Jack back in a relationship with Rhett. He is willing to ruin Jack’s NHL career to do so. Rhett comes up with a “fake dating arrangement” to get his father to leave Jack’s career alone. Rhett has promised to pay all of Logan’s housing and give him a limitless credit card in exchange for “fake dating” him. Logan is the complete opposite of Jack. Rhett slowly starts realizing he might actually love Logan. This book may have Trigger Warnings for some. I loved this book! I can’t wait for more from this series.
Ryan Lee Dunlap and Walker Williams did a phenomenal job narrating this book in duet style narration. Walker Williams was the perfect person to bring Rhett to life. He does an amazing job with the slightly unhinged character ls beautifully.

The majority of this book was OTT and wonderful in its ridiculousness. Just overall enjoyable. However, the plotline with Rhett's dad is OTT bad, and I was shocked there were no consequences to his actions that caused a lot of trouble. Sad commentary that massive wealth and power means getting away with things. But I'd have expected the characters in the book to have more reaction, even if legally there wasn't. I loved all the Jack and Mercy scenes! I'm still looking forward to the rest of the series!

This was again a massive success for both narrators - different ones from book one. They brought a lot of emotion and connection to the story. Great job!
Fun addition to the series

🎧📚🎧 Walker Williams and Ryan Lee Dunlap were fantastic with voicing these characters and delivering a perfect portrayal of each. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. Both nailed it in the lead roles, grasping every aspect of their personalities, and their every emotion, which was reflected and heard in their performance. Both were just as amazing performing the roles of the side/secondary characters too. They are entertaining storytellers, and their captivating performance not only keeps you glued to the story, but it a pleasure to listen to.

Both Walker Williams and Ryan Lee Dunlap are new to me voice actors and they brought Rhett and Logan to life in the most addictive way. Williams nailed Rhett’s gruff, possessive edges and Dunlap captured Logan’s bratty, dramatic energy perfectly. Together, their performances turned every snarky exchange, soft confession, and heated moment into pure magic.
What I love most about this series is how over-the-top and fun it is, it doesn’t pretend to be anything else, and that’s the charm. Between the fake dating hijinks, the Meyer clan’s chaotic but heartwarming family dynamic, and the sheer amount of pining and banter. Yes, it’s dramatic. Yes, it’s a little ridiculous. But it’s also ridiculously good. S. Legend once again proves why the Heartbreak Hockey series is such a joy to escape into, and I can't wait to listen to Casey and Mitch’s story.

I signed up for an ALC of this book on a whim. I’m totally into MM romance and when I saw it was about a hockey player and ice dancer. Yes please! This is the second book of the series, however it’s the only book of the series I’ve listened to and I don’t feel as though I missed anything. That being said I’m sure some background on a few side characters would have been good to have (Jack and )
So for the first 15%~20% I seriously HATED Rhett. I mean this guy was a total twat waffle to start with and I felt like everytime he did something small to redeem himself, he did something ten times worse and I was cursing him again. Though as the story went on and him and Logan really started to get to know each other Rhett 100% redeemed himself. He actually became quite the caretaker of Logan and he won me over. Now his father is an entire other bag of dicks, but I won’t get into him.
As for Logan … Logan is my baby. I loved his charter right from the start. He’s sassy and bratty with a heart of gold that slowly starts to show itself throughout the book. Logan is boy who just wants to feel wanted, cared for, and loved. Watching the relationship and dynamic between Logan and Rhett change and grow was actually quite heartwarming and you find yourself really cheering them on.
Walker Williams and Ryan Lee Dunlap complement each other perfectly throughout the book. At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about Walkers voice but it didn’t take long for me to really enjoy the calm yet arrogant way her voices Rhett. Which was absolutely perfect for his character. Ryan truly brought out Logan’s brattiness but was also able to show his vulnerability as well. I honestly couldn’t think of anyone better than these two to bring Rhett and Logan to life.
