Resumen del Editor

Find what you were born for, and live the life you were meant to.

Identity. It’s an abstract term. But it starts with realizing where you came from, in order to know where you should be going. And that’s the difference between fulfillment and going through the motions day after day.

Find clarity and direction, the true foundations of happiness.

How to Find Yourself provides a thorough and scientific approach to understanding yourself and why you do the things you do. You will discover your values, the roots of your behaviors, and what makes you tick. And then you can use this information to your advantage.

No more floating through life.

Peter Hollins has studied psychology and peak human performance for over a dozen years, and is a best-selling author. He has worked with a multitude of individuals to unlock their potential and path toward success. His guide draws on his academic, coaching, and research experience.

Gain the self-awareness to live in tune with your intentions.

  • The historical and biological bases of personality and identity.
  • How to classify yourself using OCEAN
  • The ever-popular MBTI, and how the Keirsey Temperaments are even more illuminating
  • How nature and nurture work together
  • The art of gaining self-awareness through self-analysis and observation

Self-discovery is how you create the life you want.

It sounds so simple - and it is. A doctor can’t treat a sickness without understanding what it is, and you can’t hope to find fulfillment without understanding what provides that feeling for you. Self-discovery unlocks the potential of your happiness.

Save yourself the credit, PLEASE

I only made it a couple chapters into this book and couldn’t take it anymore. I could get past the narrators droning if the content was great - but the advice was ridiculous. First chapter they tell you to name all your values, and that will reveal your true identity. It says “make sure you have stripped away what you may have been told to value, and just focus on what you really believe.” Okay, that’s somewhat solid, I don’t have time to go into how circular that is. But then the very next chapter they tell you to act in opposition to your true nature, and somehow that’s what’s best for you. So… find it and then reject it? Also, they subtly suggest what you should value over and over throughout the chapters, while also telling you to decide for yourself. The over arching theme of the author seems to be that you should value relational connections above all else. That could make others feel shame for it not being their top priority. Some people are driven for great achievements, or more solitude, academia, nature…. They bring DEEP value to the world, and it comes at the sacrifice of being a “family guy”.
Bottom line: it was not objective, the advice was all over the place, and the narrator made my head hurt.
First time I’ve ever written a negative review for a book - but I had to try to save someone else from wasting an Audible credit.

Book did not give definitive examples.

The book is too general and does not give a good guide to find a definitive answer. I wasted my time and money.
