The heroine works at Purgatory and uses the money to help take care of her grandmother. Alaric sees her there and becomes OBSESSED with her. He breaks into her house does some questionable things while she is asleep and stalks her. He is the type of villain I love but everything was too insta for me. I wish it would have been a duet so we could see more of his crazy. He is definitely a bulldozer and forces her into a relationship. So if that isn’t your jam this book isn’t for you.

Narration 4 STARS

Someone’s been watching too much raunchy porn😏

I liked the interaction between the characters. I thought it was sweet the way this ruthless man took care of her so tenderly. Of course that was after he brutalized her..so there’s that. The writing was ok but some of the lines read like bad porn. The narration was decent.

The story was rather superficial and the sexy times were mostly just porn scenes in novel form. And bad porn at that. On the fence about his kink..consensual…questionable 🤷🏽‍♀️

Lastly, he called her sugar. My grannie called me sugar so that was kinda creepy for me.

Pretty Steamy

I liked the narrators. The guys voice kinda reminded me of the guy in the candyman movie back in the 90s. He really got into character. I like that. Sometimes narrators are monotone. I like it when they really play the character.

Dark and freaky

I listen to a lot of dark romance but this one had me cringing. I love the narrators and probably why I bought the book. But it had some elements I don’t even listen to willingly. If nothing bothers you, you may really enjoy this title. I love the narrators in the next books but I’m afraid it’s just going to be my limit to have gotten through this one.

surprisingly good

I was not quite sure in the beginning but it turned out to be a good Mafia romance. his kink was different then most of these types of books so it set it apart. she wasn't very thankful about being rescued....with his drastic actions her reaction to him was rather confrontational thus setting up the plot from stalking to kinda kidnapping for you own good territory. she wasn't overly winey and adapted to her circumstances pretty well once she finally accepted he wasn't going to kill her. even being a hitman he was actually really good to her, most of the time to the best of his ability given the circumstances. the story had a few twists in the side characters to spice it up. narration was good.

Depraved romance! I was really surprised how really steamy great this story was! If you like stalker meets his target - please enjoy this installment to the very dark side!

Weird

This story did not connect and in return I did not connect with it. I mean who wants to have sex with basically a corpse.
I gave it three stars because in fairness I did finish the book but it left me feeling weird as hell for doing so.

I read the other reviews, but it says dark romance for a reason. I completely loved this book so much that I'm leaving a review, suspenseful and dark. 💙💙

Fun & Entertaining

If you are looking for a book with an unhinged MMC, innocent FMC, light plot, and a smorgasbord of unhinged spicy goodness in the form of delicious dark tropes - then look no further… this is it.

When Jack Calihan recommends you a book he narrates based off the trigger warnings you love, you stop what you are doing and listen to that book… and he did NOT let me down.

This book delivered exactly what I expected it to - an unhinged depraved smv++y ride. And what a fun ride it was. It checked so many boxes on my mood reading check list and listening to Jack Calihan narrate my favorite trope… I mean trigger just made the experience that much more delightful! And to make it even better was having Heather Firth as the FMC!
