Had to listen to it twice, and probably will again
Wow, OK... Please read the whole review. So on my first listen I felt the book was super powerful but in a bad way. The stories I hard were exactly when I am going through. Painfully so. There were time I had to stop and ended up in bars. One night I even invited a stranger into my truck for obvious reasons. All I could focus in the book was on was the pain.
A few days after I finished the book, some of the positive messages were still bouncing in my head. So I started the book over again at the beginning.
On my second round, while I still heard the painful parts that bring tears to my eyes, I heard the positive message about recovery more clearly.
I will probably listen to this again. Many more times.
As I write this I am sitting at home having just gotten off work on a Saturday. I can't remember the last time I went home from work instead going straight to the bar. Something is changing in me regarding my addictions and traumas for the better, and I think this book has absolutely helped me on this brighter path. ❤️ 🏳️🌈
