2nd just as good as 1st

Not disappointed AT ALL... a great sequel and all settled - NOT mushy and not predictable-worth my time and a different kind of hero...and love story...Narrators do a Superb Job!!

The perfect dark romance!

The second one does not disappoint either!
The banter is fantastic! The ending perfect!

This duology jumped to the top of my dark romance faves and I will definitely be following this author (and the narrators as well!)

great part 2

This continuation of Menace part 1, is just as exciting, and spine-tingling as the first. Great listen with awesome narration. pulls you right into the story!

The heroine: Morgan (a.k.a. Scarlet) - at the end of Menace we found out the truth of her past with Cassian Aristoff, the Russian mob boss.

The Hero(es): Lorenzo Gambini (a.k.a. Scar) - Lorenzo Gambini is over the top hilarious. He is a killer and a sociopath with absolutely no fear and says the most hysterical things in such a deadpan manner.

The Story: Lorenzo and Morgan are now a ‘thing’ though it hasn’t been defined exactly what they are. Morgan is still terrified and terrorized by Cassian Aristoff and Lorenzo wants to get him off her back once and for all, though it is a delicate situation since Cassian has a hostage and killing him might mean never finding her.

Like the first book this one was told in dual points of view with dual narration. Narrated by Kasha Kensington and Iggy Toma who both do a great job and have pleasant voices that are easy to listen to. This book is as good as or better than the first. Lorenzo is sexy, dangerous and hilarious AF. He is a lovable sociopath for certain. Every other review I read mentions how much the readers love Lorenzo. You just have to love all his little quirks and quips.

“There’s no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, Pretty Boy. Life isn’t magically delicious. The consequences of breaking a mirror is that your goddamn mirror is now broken.”

“If you’re measuring, fellas, to see which of you has the biggest cock,” I say, “I can end this easily by telling you it’s neither one of you jackasses, because nobody has a bigger cock than I do, so sit the fuck down before I’m forced to whip it out.”

“Whoa buddy!” I say, letting out a laugh as the detective scrambles to pull himself together. His pants are down around his ankles, damn near tripping him, his awkwardly hairy ass on display. “Might wanna shave that shit, Sasquatch.”

“Long story,” I lie. It’s sort of a simple one—my closest guy betrayed us, turning into a bigger rat than Peter Pettigrew in Harry Potter. Yeah, whatever... you’re wondering how I know who that is, huh? Truth is, my brother’s got a nerdy side. He read the books as a kid, wouldn’t shut up about it.

“Just one night of that sleep would probably cure me of every problem I have. I’d wake up the next morning feeling like Mr. Rogers, welcoming motherfuckers to my neighborhood.”

One other reason I like Lorenzo is because he is human. He was beaten with a shovel when he was younger and has a scar across his face and is blind in one eye. He suffers from insomnia and migraines. He needs Scarlet despite not wanting to admit it. He is also very nice to her and does nice things for her.

Almost stopped listening after the first few chapters but kept going and absolutely fell in love with these characters and the narrators. Full of humor and quirkiness I couldn’t get enough and would love to see more books with them

Best protagonists ever, as I said in my review of the first book. First of all, I loved that Morgan said in the book that Lorenzo doesn't complete her, that she's a whole person on her own and would be able to breathe without him,, but the thought of it makes her cold inside. I just loved that the author didn't turn her into a woman that had to depend on her man, that thought of herself as half of a person without him, because I used to be that person and it took me a long time to work on myself and get to the point where I realized that I'm not half of a whole and don't NEED a man. Morgan was such a strong female, I just really liked her. It's hard for me to decide if I liked her or Lorenzo more, because he was so freaking interesting in so many ways! The backstory, the puzzle thing (I do puzzles too so it was kind of funny to hear about this tough guy doing puzzles), and his total inability to deal with any feelings whatsoever. His dark humor and obsession with Star Wars was also hysterical, and I loved that cynical, bleak humor he used throughout these books. Not to mention, the narration was FANTASTIC. I gotta say, both narrators were just killing it, but Iggy Toma in particular was just.... unbelievable. His inflections, his tone of voice, his volume, just everything about it was perfect. It felt like we were really hearing someone tell us their story. He somehow read like he was just talking to a normal person in a normal way and I was truly impressed by the great job he and Kasha Kensington did narrating the books. The very last thing I want to make sure I mention is the writing. It was superb, and I loved the way the author didn't make it take the typical route after the big "boss fight" with "Jabba" as Lorenzo called him. This one will stick with me for a while because it was so good and I really recommend it!
