Miles Boone is running out of time. He had one year to solve every beginner’s quest the Game offers or he faces a lifetime of slavery. Now, time is flying by and he can’t even find a safe place to play the Game. His apartment has burned down while he was in it. His secretive father won’t let him enter the Game from his home. Miles’s only choice is to enter the underbelly of society and try to win his bet from anonymous VR pods controlled by an old associate - or is that enemy? - of his father’s.

Meanwhile, the Party’s hunt for him in-Game continues. Surrounded by enemies from without and within, Miles has to keep upping his Game. His lack of a Luck stat makes it impossible for him to play like anyone else. With no luck, Miles will have to gather the strength to survive.

a Good follow up to a fun 1st entry I really enjoyed this one had a lot of fun with it

This boy is supposed to be smart. When dealing with the the powerful, he is as dumb as a box of rocks. Instead of filling with the court of their constituents. Plus he constantly acts as if he can't think. And inspire of no luck stat he has more than he knows. A crazed fool out there is trying to kill him.

This is a great twist on the genre and and overall
Amazing read. I couldn’t stop listening.

slow but good

so first off, worth a credit in my opinion. no harems or nasty bs.

spoiler alert.

goddammit why end the book when the world building is just starting and op powers coming in to play! finally! after all this time something very interesting is happening in the flipping book.

now I have to wait and wait for the next one and bullied in to buying it by the gosh darn cliffhanger.

thanks for the good read and yeah, im pissed. wrongfully pissed.

Another great book to add to your library. Definitely a worthwhile purchase and I am patiently await book 3.

excellent writing and voice

top notch voice work, top notch character development, top notch original writing.
It's not often you come across writing this well done, I will be watching this author closely.

no book 3 wtf dead series

amazing ground work loved it. but it still needs like 4 books and the author is MIA don't start the books no point. main character is stuck doing his first 5 entry quests I think he has 1 more quest to finish...

if you like listening to great books without the last 2-3 books buy this...should of done my research first.

authors last update was in 2018. Can't find any updates on book three anywhere

I didn't think a book about completing a gathering quest would be very entertaining but it was. Nice job.

Plot holes big enough to ruin the book for me.

Let me preface by saying I loved the first book, appreciate the quality of writing, and the narration was top notch. I can usually forgive plot holes but this one had me so frustrated that I returned the book.

Here's the issue, the writer sets up a world where dying has you lose experience, then MC runs into the biggest issue in the book which he's earning too much exp..... Anyone see the issue here? Writer creates this super genius father who literally created the game, and the son goes and asks how could I pooooossibly do this quest when I'm getting too much experience???? Super genius dad can't figure it out either so he ends up going to the black market to augment his own body..... Then fighting super hard to make sure he didn't die.... and lose exp.... Ugh got me too frustrated to keep listening.

Quality of almost everything else will probably have me trying out the next book in the series when it comes out. I'm rooting for the author.
