Resumen del Editor

The path to success is never easy. In Flip the Script you will learn the life-changing lessons of leadership and determination Coach O discovered on the road to a championship. Ed Orgeron, head coach of the record-breaking national champion LSU Tigers football team, tells the inspiring story of reversing the team's fortunes and culture, as well as his own remarkable leadership journey from disappointment and setback to the apex of college sports.

The storybook football season for the LSU Tigers in 2019 was the stuff of legend: a team with recently unmet expectations became the undefeated national champion with a Heisman trophy-winning transfer quarterback under the leadership of a coach whose previous coaching stops had been disappointments. Yet that coach, Ed Orgeron, had turned everything around. He flipped the script, transforming a program that lately had not reached its potential into a team of unprecedented dominance. Flip the Script is the story of how it happened, with lessons for anyone who wants to succeed.

Telling the story of his own journey that culminated in the Cinderella season, Orgeron highlights the traits he learned are necessary for success:an ability and willingness to learn from mistakes, the necessity of perseverance, recognizing and focusing on what you’re truly good at,building unity, and overcoming hardship.

The road to success is never easy, as Ed Orgeron's life reveals. But his life also shows that with determination and a willingness to learn from experience, your trajectory can change - your script can be flipped - and you can achieve more than you ever dreamed.

Reliving greatness

The story is 5-star, for sure. No LSU fan will ever forget that season. All the stars aligned and it truly was the perfect season. But I wish Coach O had narrated the story! Loved the ability to relive the season through this book. Geaux Tigers!

If you’re a fan

This is a very interesting behind the scenes look at Ed O and LSU. Coach takes you through his entire career and through his time as HC at LSU.

Decent not great

Story is well written and you get a little about coach O’s background but not much new here even for the casual fan. Also, as Coach O seems to blame those around him, even when he is saying put it on me, I’m left liking him a little less than I did before.

Great listen

If you’re a fan of coach O, you will enjoy this book. It was great to hear more of the behind the scenes details that i never knew. And i was happy to hear that he did in fact call out USC’s AD Hayden…that AD ruined USC for years that followed. Coach O made me an LSU fan!

Give us a movie!

This literally sounds like it could be a classic sports movie. It doesn’t get any better than this story as far as a sport’s success story. 10/10 would recommend even if you’re not a LSU fan.

Great book. I loved Coach O's authenticity.

I loved coach O's willingness to share his life story. as a coach who is transitioning to another school and starting the program from scratch there were great nuggets of wisdom embedded in this book.

A Good Biography, But Not Inspirational...

While the telling of Coach O's football life story was interesting, it failed to produce a message for the reader. Coach had a nice career, built mostly on networking and being in the right place at the right time. While it doesn't seem like he was ever anyone's first choice for Coach at any of his tenures, his work ethic allowed him to make the most of his opportunities. The second half of the book is basically an homage to Joe Burrow, and Coach O all but says the national championship happened around him, not in any way because of him. That makes it easy to see why it was easy for LSU to part ways with him. Very little mention of any off-field life except for a brief mention of drinking in his younger days. Growing up an athlete and around coaches of all sports at all levels, I'm not sensitive to language at all. And while not horrible, the language used in this book was such that Thomas Nelson Publishing shouldn't have been within a hundred miles of it.
Overall enjoyable, if hollow.
