Worth it!

Absolutely worth listening to. Felt like a kid again listening to a childhood hero read the biography of another childhood hero of mine. I cried and laughed and was just in awe of what an incredible life Fred Rogers had.

Beautiful book

This is one of those books that you can buy and give to parents and educators and just hope that they read it, and if they do it will be a service to children. Beautiful book. Must read.

This is such a wonderful read, to hear about the amazing kindness of this man. It is very moving.

LOVED!

I absolutely loved this title. I thought I knew it all when it came to Mister Rogers but there was so much I didn't know . I loved that it was narrated by LeVar Burton, he tells his story wonderfully, he keeps the listeners attention and is just fabulous. I also love the introduction and closing of the story which is the music from the neighborhood. Overall if you are interested in Fred Rogers you will love this book.

This book, the first true biography of an incredible educator and human being, is insightful and inspiring. King walks us through Rogers’ youth in Pennsylvania to the pioneering steps in educational television where he played an instrumental role. We get a look at the man he was on screen and off with amazing insights into his private life. Whether you grew up on Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood or just want to learn more about a wonderful piece of humanity, you will find it here. It may be some time before our world is ever graced with another human being as beautiful as Fred, but the story of his life will make you want to try and be one yourself.

OUTSTANDING!!

One of the best books I’ve ever read! Such an incredible man. It’s so refreshing to know of such a wonderful, soft, kind, and spiritual man who ended up shaping the people of the world in such a personal way. He has blessed us all in so many ways, and the world needs more of his kind.

What's Not to Like?

Lovely and sweet, I did not want it to end! LeVar Burton was the perfect narrator.

LeVar Burton was my childhood, and to have him narrate a biography of a man whom so many others childhoods was shaped was absolutely incredible. One thing I look for in biographies is the full truth - do they tell the good and the bad- and I believe King has done this and Mr. Rogers would have been proud.

Great overview

This book was a great overview of Fred Roger's life. It painted a picture of why he did things the way he did and who he was as a person. I enjoyed the narrator's ability to read both personal accounts and the reasoning behind Mr. Rogers' strategy for his show.

Love Mr. Rogers, couldn’t finish the book

My rating is for Mr. Rogers, not the book. Listening to Fred Rogers’ story increased my respect and admiration of him. However, the book needed tighter editing. The unnecessary repetition of established details was numbing & tedious. While I have loved Levar Burton’s work for years, I found his ‘astonished’ inflection for every. single. incident. annoying. I recommend finding a different account of Mr. Rogers’ life.
