#1 New York Times bestselling author Kathy Reichs takes forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan behind the scenes of a major commercial airliner crash in this pulse-pounding thriller.

Temperance Brennan hears the news on her car radio: an Air TransSouth flight has gone down in the mountains of western North Carolina, taking with it eighty-eight passengers and crew. As a forensic anthropologist and a member of the regional DMORT team, Tempe rushes to the scene to assist in body recovery and identification. Tempe has seen death many times, working with the medical examiners in North Carolina and Montreal, but never has tragedy struck with such devastation. She finds a field of carnage. Many of the dead are members of a university soccer team. Is Tempe’s daughter, Katy, among them?

Frantic with worry, Tempe joins colleagues from the FBI, the NTSB, and other agencies to search for explanations. Was the plane brought down by a bomb, an insurance plot, a political assassination, or simple mechanical failure? And what about the prisoner on the plane who was being extradited to Canada? Did someone want him silenced forever? Even more puzzling for Tempe is a disembodied foot found near the debris field. Tempe’s microscopic analysis suggests it could not have belonged to any passenger. Whose foot is it, and where is the rest of the body? And what about the disturbing evidence Tempe discovers in the soil outside a remote mountain enclave? What secrets lie hidden there, and why are certain people eager to stop Tempe’s investigation? Is she learning too much? Coming too close?

With help from Montreal detective Andrew Ryan, who has his own sad reason for being at the crash, and from a very special dog named Boyd, Tempe calls upon deep reserves of courage and upon her forensic skill to uncover a shocking, multilayered tale of deceit and depravity.

Captivated my attention throughout. The two stories in one and the detail to each was a thrill ride, enjoyed it very much.

Where does Fatal Voyage rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's in the top 15% of all the audiobooks.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the constant action and tension - it never stops.

Which character – as performed by Kate Harper – was your favorite?

Temprance Brennan - she's a remarkable scientist but has her own problems. She's flawed and real.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I don't believe I had an extreme reaction to it. The book was well-written and entertaining.

A SPELL-BIND SEARCH FOR THE TRUTH

Maybe I am getting used to the highly technical nature of these books, and the first-person style in but this book has a great mystery and more twists in both plot and relationships.

Kate Harper is also a better performer for Kathy Reichs' style, and she kept the characters different and entertaining. I was disappointed to see that she is not narrating other books in this series.

The only detraction was that the characters took a little too long to catch up to the reader. It is always good to let the reader come to conclusions a moment before the main characters -- that helps the suspension of disbelief, but at times this story takes it a tiny bit too far.

Over all very entertaining. If you are a fan of the series, definitely don't skip this one.

The best so far

I love these stories. Being from NC I know the places mentioned. I hope to listen to all of them.

Tempi Brennon

For such an intelligent woman, the main character in this story does some ridiculously stupid things (in every book so far) when she knows she's being threatened, still goes out for a walk at night, armed with only a scalpel, etc.! But I'm putting up with it as I'm enjoying the rest of the story(ies)!

Am enjoying this series!

I enjoyed the actors ever so slight southern accent that gave believability to the character. The story was enjoyable and kept you guessing. Being that this is the fourth book, the character development is continuing to flush out their relationships grow. Enjoyable series.

I liked this story and the reader gave it her all, but I didn't love how she read for some of the characters.

I could only get the abridged version when I purchased this audio version. Always felt cheated so went for the unabridged version. Very glad I did. I have never been a fan of abridged books. Prefer to pick what to skip on my own.

Loved this listen. What I a discovering is that I prefer the stories that take place up north over the ones that take place in the south.

Better version than the abridged version I had.
