Resumen del Editor

Temperance Brennan, forensic anthropologist for both North Carolina and Quebec, has come from Charlotte to Montreal during the bleak days of December to testify as an expert witness at a murder trial. She should be going over her notes, but instead she's digging in the basement of a pizza parlor. Not fun. Freezing cold. Crawling rats. And now, the skeletonized remains of three young women. How did they get there? When did they die?

Homicide detective Luc Claudel believes the bones are historic. Not his case, not his concern. But when Tempe examines the bones in her lab, she establishes approximate age with Carbon 14. Further study of tooth enamel tells her where the women were born. If she's right, Claudel has three recent murders on his hands. Definitely his case.

Detective Andrew Ryan is acting mysteriously. What are those private phone calls he takes in the other room, and why does he suddenly disappear just when Tempe is beginning to hope he might be a permanent part of her life? Looks like more lonely nights for Tempe and Birdie, her cat.

As Tempe searches for answers in both her personal and professional lives, she finds herself drawn deep into a web of evil from which there may be no escape. Women have disappeared, never to return...Tempe may be next.

Don't miss any of Tempe Brennan's investigations.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"What's best about Reichs, and often unappreciated in reviews, is not the informative detail that she brings to Tempe's forensic sleuthing, though that's certainly engrossing. It's the same well-observed detail and incisive analysis applied to other aspects of the story." (Publishers Weekly)

Monday Mourning

Kathy Reichs is a good author and this Tempe series book lives up to her reputation. The biggest complaint that I have is not with the book but rather with the speaker. I suggest that the next time a book contains any French you have someone do the speaking that can at least pretend to speak French. The pronunciation is really bad and it interferred with what should have been enjoyable listening.

Enjoyable

Contrary to the other opinions thusfar, I found this book thoroughly enjoyable. It only reinforced my eagerness to get the next Tempe Brennan novel as soon as it comes out. If you like Reichs (as I do) this should not disappoint you.

Much better than the first six books in series!

I liked this narrator best so far and also enjoy learning some "bone science", while listening to a good mystery! On to the next book in this series!

Suspense at it's best

Kathy Reichs is an amazing suspense writer. With her intelligence and her use of cutting-edge forensic science, she guides you through the events in a riveting way. She doesn't dumb the science down too much, just enough to allow the reader to feel smart. Clever move!
Reichs' attention to detail is what sets her apart from other writers in the genre. She is the real deal, and so is her heroine, Temperance Brennan.
For some reason, after starting this series of books, I have also added both Montreal and the Carolinas to my list of places to visit some day.....

Horrific, gruesome, brilliant!

Monday Mourning by Kathy Reichs, read by Michele Pawk, is a horrifying, gruesome and brilliant listen. Tempe investigates when three ancient skeletons turn up in a basement. The evidence points to the bones been an archaeological find, but Tempe is not so sure. One of the skeletons turns out to be more recent. A horrific tale of kidnap, torture and murder unfold. A great listen.

Pretty Good

Overall, I thought the story line was good and I didn't mind the forensic details and drawn out details since I was listening to the book to pass time. I also liked this narrator.

interesting complicated plot

Unlike many readers here, I liked the character and personality of Temperence Brennan in the books and the depth of analytic description and plot in the books much better than the Bones TV series, which had kind of predictable flat characters. These mysteries are gripping and at times hard to take how gritty they are.

Good Book, Good Reading

Story was good. Reading was very good. I have a teenage daughter and this story did give me the creeps a bit. Kept my attention during the commute and walking.

Mostly hard to understand

I enjoy Kathy Reichs stories on the most part but sometimes she has so much technical stuff it's hard to understand and follow.

"Bones" is better

Sad when a TV show is better than the books it is based on. But I think that may be because the show has time limits. As far as I can tell, there are no more editors alive and working.
This is way too long, so it's difficult to tell how it would be when well-edited
