Passion has no chains, but freedom has a price.

My heart pounded as the slaver dragged me into the cells. After weeks trapped in the bowels of Thodos III, freedom had never seemed so far away.

Until he emerged from the shadows. Razov, a Vinduthi on a mission.

Escape seemed impossible, but he refused to leave me behind. Now we're fighting for our lives in a deadly game rigged to ensure we lose.

Victory will mean throwing off our shackles forever . . . if we can survive that long.

But when his simmering desire ignites into a firestorm of passion, can I really give my heart to him?

Contains mature themes.

🎧 Audiobook Review: Desired by the Alien Devil (Brides of the Vinduthi, #2)

Author: Ava York
Genre: Science Fiction Romance
Narrators: Oliver Highpoint and Mia Madison

🦸🏼‍♀️ The Heroine: Amelia

Amelia (“Amy”) is held captive on Thodos III alongside other human women by the Aiwani, a vicious, rat‑like alien species who operate a thriving—if technically illegal—slave market. The Aiwani hide behind the euphemism of “indentured servitude,” but the reality is cages, brutality, and the constant threat of being sold. Amy and her friend Mira were snatched while Mira was tracking human traffickers, and Amy was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Their plan to escape through the ventilation system was desperate but brave, and when it failed, Amy stepped up without hesitation. She shoulders the blame to protect Mira, even knowing the consequences could be fatal. Her courage, loyalty, and refusal to break under torture make her a heroine worth rooting for.

🦸🏻‍♂️ The Hero: Razov

Razov is a member of the Fangs cartel, a powerful force on the Thodos III station. Known for his chaos‑driven methods and fierce loyalty to his people, he’s the kind of antihero who thrives in the shadows. Initially tasked with tracking down a stolen shipment, he’s reassigned when Alkard—the leader of the Vinduthi cartel and mate to Tessi—receives a distress message from Mira. With no precise location for her in the labyrinthine “under” levels of the station, Razov is ordered to find her the only way he knows how: the “Razov way.” His mission intertwines with Amy’s fate, setting the stage for a collision of danger, violence, and unexpected connection.

📚 The Plot

After sending their desperate communication, Amy and Mira are quickly recaptured. Amy awakens surrounded by four furious Aiwani, and without hesitation, she claims full responsibility for the escape attempt. She does it to shield Mira, who carries enough evidence to expose the Aiwani’s crimes—if she can get out alive. The Aiwani are enraged not only by the attempted escape but also by the death of one of their own and the release of a rare, valuable caterpillar‑like creature. Amy admits to both acts, refusing to cower. Mira is dragged back to her cell while Amy is strung up by her wrists and whipped as punishment. Her defiance in the face of cruelty becomes one of the emotional anchors of the story.

🌟 Strengths

• Amy’s bravery is the standout element of the book. Her willingness to sacrifice herself for Mira, even without knowing whether she’ll survive, gives her depth and emotional weight. Her resilience under torture reinforces her strength without turning her into an unrealistic caricature.
• The Vinduthi’s physiology adds a fun twist to the sci‑fi romance landscape. Plenty of alien species have fangs, but the blood‑drinking element makes the “Fangs” cartel name feel earned and adds a darker, more primal edge to their worldbuilding.

💔 Limitations

• The series‑long arcs continue to drag. Book one left the search for Mina unresolved, and this installment adds Razov’s missing weapons shipment to the list of dangling threads. Neither storyline reaches a conclusion here, which may frustrate readers.

🎙️ Narration

The dual POV format is enhanced by the dual narration from Oliver Highpoint and Mia Madison. Mia’s youthful, expressive voice fits Amy perfectly, and her male voices are surprisingly solid. Oliver’s smooth baritone brings gravitas to Razov’s chapters without sounding forced or overly dramatic. Having listened to both narrators before, it’s clear they’ve grown even more comfortable in their roles. Their performances elevate the story and make the darker moments more immersive.

💬 Final Assessment

This installment delivers strong character moments—especially through Amy’s courage and Razov’s gritty determination—and the worldbuilding continues to expand in intriguing ways. However, the lack of resolution for multiple major plotlines may leave some listeners feeling suspended rather than satisfied. Still, the emotional stakes, the darker sci‑fi elements, and the excellent narration make it a compelling entry for fans of the series who enjoy slow‑burn arcs and high‑tension rescue missions.
