Terrible abridged version.

Whoever abridged this book was either lazy, stupid or incompetent. I am so sorry I spent any money on it. The length should have given it away. It was choppily cut and only covers a portion of the story. It doesn't contain any of the mystery solution or even conclude the story. It just stops in the middle.

Audible should be ashamed to offer trash like this.

Abridging a Dick Francis novel is a travesty.

What disappointed you about Decider?

The incomplete version was so unsatisfying. I bought this by mistake. Luckily I also have the compete version.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Probably another Dick and Felix Francis novel, the newest one, which should be out soon as it's almost July.

Which scene was your favorite?

The one when the hamburger wrapper is discovered in the pocket of the animal-loving "protester" who turns out to be a fake.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The only thing I didn't love was that it was abridged. The whole book has terrific characters as well as interesting settings and a good plot. Why cut out any of the good parts? I recommend to Audible that you put a big skull and crossbones, or at least a very clear notice, when a book is abridged. I'm not sure how I was fooled on this one, but somehow I didn't notice when I bought it.

Read this BEFORE you PURCHASE!

Dick Francis' book Decider is a great book. Even in an abridged version it was entertaining. HOWEVER, there IS a glitch in this product-- in that only half of the book is on this recording. (I bought it on a special sale and didn't look at the reviews, or I would have known this. oops!) The representative I talked to wasn't aware that the recording is defective, but he said he would listen to it-- so perhaps it will be officially logged as a problem and be corrected.
Meanwhile, until Audible gets this audio version sorted out, purchase another one of Dick Francis' book: "Odds Against," "Whip Hand," and "Come to Grief" are highly recommended.

If only I had read the reviews first!! I figured even an abridged Dick Francis would be fun, and maybe it would have been IF the whole book had been abridged. The recording stopped way before the end of the book, practically right in the middle. If it had been cassettes, I would have said I lost the second cassette. I enjoyed the book when I read it with my eyes -- with my ears it was a major disappointment! Don't waste your time & money!

NOT THE WHOLE BOOK!

I, too, called to complain that Audible would include a "portion" of the story - this is *NOT* an "abridged" version, it's just the first few chapters. The story itself is actually quite good....after I went and bought the paperback to find out the ending! :-) It's too bad the review of the book has to be so bad to warn people not to buy this version.
