Resumen del Editor

Fortuna has made one too many sacrifices to protect the ones she loves. She no longer knows how to go about her day-to-day life like she’s normal. Like she’s not utterly destroyed. Just a glimpse of Ian O’Connell’s face causes panic attacks, and Collith isn’t much help, considering he’s fighting demons of his own. Among so much inner turmoil, Fortuna’s abilities are still changing. However weak she feels, she knows she’s getting stronger. Fortuna does her best to hide it from other Fallen because, in the world of monsters, strength will get you killed. Well, that and unpredictable panic attacks. Unfortunately for Fortuna, it’s when you’re most vulnerable that enemies - new and old - like to come out of the woodwork....

confused? enraged? (spoilers)

so I LOVED the first two books... and I was excited for this one going in. I liked the conflict of trauma between fortuna and colleth but I never felt like it got resolved in a meaningful way? like just randomly, Colleth was fine? he built her a house, everything's chill. and then she has ONE conversation with a person she BARELY knows and flips a switch and decides to throw EVERYTHING away without even TALKING to Colleth. I had to stop reading and it took me about a month to come down from the rage in my soul.I was hoping the author would give a twist on an overused trope but no. she makes impulsive decisions, having learned absolutely nothing from the first two books. and then immediately after, she makes another impulsive decision which ultimately means nothing because the cliffhanger is essentially just 'im gonna undo the bad choice you made LITERALLY TEN MINUTES AGO' im not sure why i should care at this point? Fortuna went from being a caring, dangerous heroine to just being straight up stupid.

There were also like four different main plots and none of them were resolved by Fortuna so they felt kinda pointless and went nowhere. like the whole thing with 'the hunt' could have been entirely cut out and nothing would have changed and yet we spent like 4 hours on it.

ALSO when is Oliver gonna matter??? I've been waiting three books for him to have any amount of significance. At the beginning of this one, Fortuna made a monster cus she was thinking about it and for the ENTIRE book, up until the last three minutes, I was waiting for Oliver to become an actual person. I'm so mad that this is where this story went. there was so much potential but I feel like I've wasted my time and emotional investment only to be consistently let down.

Disappointed

I really enjoyed the first two books. This one however was disappointing. I almost DNFed this book. The plot is very disjointed and goes nowhere. Fortuna makes the same mistakes over and over again. She never learns from her reckless decisions. She constantly hurts people she lives and then hates herself for it. The author seems use the same tactics where Fortuna starts an important conversation with someone and gets interrupted or refuses to hear them out. It was tiring and extremely frustrating. Basically it’s the same mistakes we thought she learned from the first two books with a plot that makes little sense. I felt like I wasted my time. I hate not finished a series but I am not sure I will continue this one.

I need more Fortuna!

I read book 1 and 2 and absolutely loved them - I waited about 3 months for book 3 to come out on audio and it was TOTALLY worth the wait! Fortuna continues to kick ass while making friends and enemies on the way. I really like how she goes through real life experiences and you can understand her thought process. I also really like how she puts her family first - another way for the reader to relate. It's alot of magic mixed with some real life.

The narrator is my new favorite! She captures all the characters sarcasm, sadness and happiness so perfectly.

I can't wait for more books! The author could write 100 more and it still wouldn't be enough :D

One step forward and two steps back

so I want to start off by saying all the things I liked about this story. The world was vast and interesting. The types of creatures was also appealing. lastly the fact the the fallen parts be used and sold at black markets was an awesome dark system. However all of this melted away like snow in spring when you get down to the nitty gritty core of these series. Fortuna never really likes herself. She views her powers as a constant negative. She hates her powers like some people hate a terrible neighbor. Wanting to seal it away and never see it again. Also for how powerful Fortuna is she never actually does anything. The wolf pack ended, not due to her but the pack gaining a new alpha. Also so far all these books have had little problems in the grand scheme of these. The shadow hunting her is barely mentioned and seems more like an after thought. I know it is the main premise of book four, but when a problem arrives and gets solved within the same series it just doesn't feel like it mattered. then there is the fact that all of these hunters and extremists don't actually have any real impact on the story makes it seem more like usless information. So if the main premise is unknown, the main character hates herself, the entire cast is having a huge pity party, and the world and its inhabitants have no real meaning then the last thing is Fortuna's relationship. With this she takes a step forward and tow steps back because drama is necessary to push this plot through. Since the story doesn't have an over arching story it needs to create useless drama to continue on with the story. If Fortuna had to deal with the extremists making so.e ground by using the black market and acquiring parts to make a super weapon to wipe out the two courts or if she had to deal with a war against the Sicily court, then the plot wouldn't have to use so much drama. This world is vast and has so many factions in it. However at the end everything is essentially pointless. The conflicts resolve without the mx having to do anything and she cannot hold a relationship to save her life. I don't even mean a romantic relationship since she just pushes everyone away for no real reason.
