After stopping a madman who controlled an undead army and barely surviving the destruction of the aliens responsible for the plague that decimated humanity, Jubal Slate leads a small band of humans across the shattered landscape of America, fighting off the forces of the living and the dead. The group races north pursuing a legend, a post-apocalyptic fairy tale: a town protected from the walking dead. Tired of the war and his nomadic life, Slate follows the path to Sanctuary, even while doubting its existence. Along a journey filled with hordes of zombies, Slate and his companions face new enemies and find themselves pursued by the final weapon of the vanquished necros. Is sanctuary even possible on a dead Earth? And if so, is the cost more than Jubal Slate is willing to pay?
Even after alien invasion and zombie armies, Slate will discover that the worst horrors are home grown.

Jubal Slate takes a small band of fellow survivors across a landscape filled with zombies and outlaws in search of the legendary Sanctuary, a town protected from the hordes of the undead. Narrator James Snyder's voice thrums with energy, and his supple pacing makes action scenes crackle with suspense. Pursued by the final weapon of the defeated necros, Jubal and his group also find themselves dealing with psychotic new enemies. Snyder voices each character with realism, and the many dramatic moments are never overdone. Listeners will have a difficult time tearing themselves away from the third installment in the Dead Earth series.
Take a helping of Walking Dead, stir in a dollop of Falling Skies, season well with a few ground up bits of The Wizard of Oz, even a shake or two of Reign of Fire, and you have the broad-strokes start-up for Dead Earth: Sanctuary. – HellBound Times
Jay Snyder is quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators. You wouldn’t think that with such a deep and polished normal voice that he would have the range to evoke the voices of the characters in this or any book. Snyder commands each and every aspect of the story and mesmerizes my imagination with crisp clear enunciation that seems second nature to him.
Didn't know this wasn't the first book
