We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Best book yet!
Best book of the series yet! Didn’t want to finish it so quickly but once I started I didn’t want to stop. Looking forward to book’s 4-10!!!

So Good!
This is my second time through this series, and I'm only stopping at this point to mention how awesome this series is. I've spent the last few days marathoning the first three books , in order to remember enough to listen to book four, which just came out. I remembered major characters, but much of the plot was lost to me. I literally forgot how this book ended, though I remembered struggling with the dynamic of Jake and well... just read it... or listen... whichever is your favorite. Even my dad loves this series. (Currently trying to convert my mom, lol, because I know she'll love it). Bray is one of my favorite narrators, so this was a no-brainer for me. Love it.

Good realistic survival storyline
Finally a realistic survival story in which the author actually thinks, realistic characters that are not simply. We are all just trying to survive people 😆👍🏽

Amazing.
A love letter to R.C. and his sexy voice. I dont think I have cared for characters so much as in these books. Cant wait to know Jakes full story. I NEED MORE COMMUNE! NOW,!!!!!!!!!!

An epic continuation
Joshua Gayou takes a risk changing up how the story is told in this latest installment. It pays off as he builds and transitions excellently into the present and mixes in new characters as the world presses on. This is easily the best series I discovered in 2018 and I had to pace myself so I didn’t get to the end too fast. Eagerly waiting for book 4.
R.C. Bray does a great job narrating this as usual. And is a treat to hear him bring the new characters to life with voices that fill in their pasts.
