Engaging!!

Engaging is the word I would use if I had to sum this entire book up in one word. The stories the author uses to help you understand where he was during different stages of his life drew me in from the very first chapter. There is such candor as you read through the God directed journey that the author and his family were set upon. He expresses the highlights of starting a church but also doesn't shy away from the difficult and gritty parts of ministry. The curtain was a pulled back as you get a good look at what it takes to start a new church. This was a fresh perspective and a great resource for any aspiring church planter out there. It would also help those who just want to know more about what it takes to start a church from the ground up.

Not just for Church Planters

This is a must listen. Kevin Miller gives the story of a church plant in Clarksville Tennessee. The wisdom he shares from the first first ten years of the ministry is pure gold. In this true story he shares life principles applicable to everyone. This book is for those in Corporate America, Entrepreneurs, Service men and women, SAH Parents, Graduates, Retirees and everyone in between. Biggest Plus- I love when books are narrated by the author. You can hear directly from the author the heart of the text. You will not be disappointed.

Pastor Kevin did it again!

From the moment my family walked into Awaken Church Pastor Kevin has taught encouraging sermons that have challenged us in our walk with Christ. Although we do not live in Tennessee anymore Pastor Kevin and Awaken Church are still instrumental in our lives. I'm not much of a reader but I was excited to read this one!! Partially because of the time we spent at Awaken and the joy to read the backstories on the journey of building the Church, Little did I know this book would be so hard to put down highlighting every page and going back to re-read important passages. I appreciate Pastor Kevin's honesty and bluntness on topics that may be hard to receive!! It has been such an encouraging read as we set out on our own personal journey to answer Gods call on our family.
