Resumen del Editor

From the New York Times best-selling author of Hounded comes an Iron Druid Chronicles short story in the captivating Carniepunk anthology.

The ancient Druid Atticus O’Sullivan gets more than greasy corn dogs and flat soda when he visits a carnival in Kansas to which his apprentice, Granuaile, drags him. He runs across a barker with a strange power over the crowd: attractive women leave their men and disappear into an unmarked tent, never to be seen again, and the men wander away, forgetting that they ever had girlfriends or wives. When Granuaile falls under the barker’s influence and enters the tent, Atticus isn’t about to forget it and move on. He and his Irish wolfhound, Oberon, pursue her and discover the horrifying secret to the carnival’s success.

Narration

I'm a big Iron Druid fan. The story was on par for a short story. But the narration wasn't just different it lacked emotion. It was read not expressed.

Wrong narrator

The story was interesting but I could not get past the wrong voice and he completely ignored Oberon. Very disappointing. Mispronounced words also.

Bad narrator

My opinion is that Luke Daniels should be the only narrator for Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid. Other than that I absolutely love the series!

Good story...

While the performance wasn't bad, it wasn't Luke Daniels. When you spend so much time listening to one narrator for a series, it really takes away from the experience when they send in a substitute.

Narrator is monotone

The story is what I have come to expect from the iron druid series. Unfortunately the narrator is not only monotone but pronounces most of the names improperly. This one is probably better if it's read not listened to.

Not the same but still good.

Hard to have Luke Daniels for every Iron Druid book/story and then get a different reader for this one story. However, knowing this Kirby still was a really good reader with a decent range for voices, and Kevin Hearns way of writing the characters makes it difficult to not feel they are the same characters.

Good, but I missed Luke Daniels

Any additional comments?

The story was good, and Kirby did an ok job, however it just wasn't the same without Luke D. Kirby's Oberon was on the flat side, and the few jokes he had took a few minutes to come through. Also he changed the pronunciation of Granuaile's name which had me wanting to shout about it (I guess he didn't listen to previous audiobooks). No offense to Kirby or Kevin, but I'm glad this was a short story and I'll be back listening to Luke.

Narrator changed

I did not like that the narrator was different than the other books- it messes with the whole vibe
