Does your dog jump all over you when you return home or mess up the house when you are out? Does he chew your furniture or your shoes? All of the above have applied to me, and it happened twice with the same dog - just in a different way. Once when he was younger and then again after lockdown in 2021.

At first, I didn’t even know. It was a neighbor who had to tell me about the howling. I hated leaving the house and leaving my dogs behind. I worried all the time if they were okay, I worried about what they were doing when I was out, what noise they might be making, and I was always keen to get home and excited to get back to them - but worried about what I might face.

After trying many different ways and finding out as much as possible, I realized that there were lots of things that might cause the anxiety.

One of the biggest reasons that dogs today are put up for adoption is due to separation anxiety where the owners can no longer cope. For this reason, I decided to write everything down that I have learned and that I have used in my own life and with others. But I also realized that it was much more common than I had thought with many dogs suffering from a fear of being alone. For those of us with slightly older dogs, separation anxiety may come as an unwelcome surprise. But it is possible to find a way to deal with it.

You will be surprised at the number of small things that might be making your dog feel this way and just how easy some of the solutions might be.

Of course, some for of separation anxiety will be more severe, and your dog might need more help, but if you have not tried these methods before, they are well worth trying.

This book captivated me. I love how straightforward it is, and instructions are easy to follow. I will definitely use this to make my fur baby's life worthwhile. It makes me want to listen to it daily.

I've grown up with dogs ever since I was a kid and I've learned that dogs have different personalities with different needs of their own too just like us humans. Despite so, I want to thank the author because finally I understood why my fur baby is behaving the way he does. My poor baby has separation anxiety! Will continue incorporating the steps outlined in this audio for sure. A great listen!

Very Informative!

My dogs make me feel terrible when leaving the house lol. This Audiobook has many tips and tricks that can easily be implemented, and so far I have seen some progress in the ways they react when I leave and when I come back!

Learn to understand and connect with your pup!

Every dog owner knows the struggle of leaving their fur baby alone at home. Let’s be honest, separation can be so distressing (for both dog and owner!) and I’m glad I came across this book to help me understand what my pup goes through. I never realised that dogs can view us as their responsibility, and they might worry that we are unsafe when they can’t see us. I also didn’t know that different breeds might react differently to the same situation. Moreover, there is invaluable advice which uncovers various aspects of canine behaviour. I loved how this audiobook allowed me to better understand my puppy.

Really insightful book!

I spend a lot of time chatting with my dog, trying to reason with him. It's like he doesn't even speak English. But seriously, I'm really glad to have some expert insight into why my dog behaves the way he does. I just want him to be happy and healthy. I got a lot out of the book, Excellent narration too. Recommend!

Very informative and detailed

I have two dogs myself and have tried some of these training techniques, and they work! I'm excited to try to see how they react to other suggestions as well. This is well written, and I appreciate the use of personal storytelling to keep me engaged.

A great resource

With the pandemic, I had spent a lot of time at home working remotely and am now away from home more often. As a result, my adult dog has been experiencing separation anxiety and I found this audiobook to help with the problem, and help it did! There is lots of good information here, even to start with certain behaviors as a puppy to prevent it in the future. I was able to use what I learned to help with her anxiety and will continue to work on it. One of the helpful fixes was so simple--getting her crate back out and re-training her to use it as a safe space! It was so simple! Thank you Helen! Great narration as well.

Great tips!

Excited to give this a try! Separation anxiety is not only stressful for my dog but also for me. I get nervous coming home not knowing what to expect. This audio book is helpful to determine how to tell when your dog does suffer from separation anxiety and the proper ways to address separation anxiety. It was also helpful to know which methods are NOT helpful and actually might be harmful to the dog as you help them get over the separation. A great listen for any pet parent dealing with their dog's separation anxiety issues!
