Great overall

First I have to start off by saying that this book was given to me free of charge for a review of the audiobook, but as always, this does not change my opinion and will not determine how I review the book or the rating that I give it.

Talking about Cliches

I got this ARC via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This book was so filled with cliches and actions that were so inconsistent with the words. You are a kidnapped victim and you fuss and argue with him. You are a victim of abuse and instead of leaving you go upstairs and pack then come back down and tell the abuser off. So many other instances that made me want to scream. Vampires are standing over her and she pretends to be asleep so she can hear what they are saying. This one just made me cringe all the way through. Realizing that you are kidnapped by a vampire and you say I think I am going to faint. Oh boy.

What you'd expect... and that's fine

This isn't a groundbreaking, revolutionary story. It does have cliches, tropes, and what you would expect from the average vampire romance, but I enjoyed it. I feel the story could use better editing to shorten some parts and improve dialogue a bit, and that's the reason why I rated it 3 stars instead of 4. However, it was well worth my time! This author has potential and I will keep an eye out for her next books!
The narrator has a pleasant voice, and I feel my usual speed of 1.25x worked well with her.

Broken Wings

The narrator saved this story for me with on point pacing and easy to understand character voices. Broken Wings has a good overall story and concept however the execution is lacking. A decent editor would be able to turn this into a better read. For now it is just Okay in my opinion. There is little character depth and alot of the decisions made don't make sense. If I were reading this I would have skimmed or skipped alot since it was a tad drawn out in places.

Vampire romance

It is not what I expected at the beginning but this only intrigued me so I kept on listening but like other reviewers on here I felt it was too long and could be cut down.
I also hate it when the main character, especially if it is a female, does silly things like go to a friend who can't really do much instead of going to someone in authority. Why?
That is not the only thing, there are other things that I found hard to believe, however, even with this I liked the book.
As for the narrator, I had no problem with her except the characters are based in England so I expected a british narrator or at least the narrators voice to change. But we don't get this. so whenever, we are told that they are in london I am surprised.

It was okay

Violet’s life was perfect at one point, but it all went to hell when her mother left. Her father turned to abuse, and Violet slowly began to pine away wishing for nothing but freedom. When she’s granted her wish, however, it’s not anything like she imagines it will be. She’s kidnapped by a vampire.

So I’m torn about what to say for this book. I fell into a love/hate relationship with it.

The plot was definitely intriguing, and it kept me listening. I had to know how the story ended, but as for the rest, I was disappointed. There are moments that are overexplained, and the characters are rather two-dimensional. Quite a few times they make some very questionable decisions. Violet has been kidnapped, but she doesn’t want to tell the police out of fear of what will happen to her so she reaches out to her best friend instead? It didn’t make a lot of sense to me at some places, but the author made up for it with pages full of suspense.

The narrator did an okay job with the readings and the main female vocals, but after a little while, it got a bit confusing because all the characters sounded the same.

All in all, I think this is an enjoyable read. Dark, twisted, and suspenseful.

Pretty Good

This was a first time for me listening to this author and narrator. They both did a good job.

The story ended on a very positive note, and I hope that there will be a follow up, the book was a bit drawn out unnecessary with the all the inner debating if Shadow is a monster or not, other than that I really enjoyed it.

The narrator gave each character their own voice, there is a few words where I could hear an accent but I am not sure if that was because of the book because of where it is taking place or if it is just how she pronounces certain words. She did a great job in reading the story with so much emotion.

Unexpectedly good

This story was not what I expected but I enjoyed listening to it. The reader isn't a favorite. Once I got use to the narrators voice, I got into the story. There are some unexpected twist and turn. I like the main two actors alot.

The story could be great but I could not get past the narration. I could not finish.

It was OK!

It was just ok for me! The narration was good. This book kind of droned on and on for me mainly due to repetition. This author does a good job with the characters.
