Well thought out mystery

These books will keep you enthralled and coming back for more. I hope Mr. James writes many more mystery novels in the coming years.

This dude is on fire

So this book in this, Jake Cashin series just got better than the first two. Very enjoyable, very well written hold your attention and the narrator is getting better as well. Hopefully they’ll be more in the series.

Great performance of very entertaining mystery!

Jake is a wonderfully flawed character with an enjoyable cast of characters. I enjoyed the story, but I found the ending to be a little flat. Declan James crafts a well formed setting and group of characters.

unexpected ending

well written and narrated. never expected the ending. this is my first book by this author and I think I'll get more I really enjoyed it

Good Listen with Enough Story to Enjoy

I liked the various character voices, storyline, twists and how the story flowed. Not too much fluff distracting from the plot.

Another great Jake Cashin book lots of twist and turns in this one had a tough time putting it down!

Cendese performance excellent, story pretty good

While James does a nice job of bringing the uninitiated up to speed, I do highly recommend reading the previous two books first. This third installment is much better than Kill Season, and although I did grasp whodunnit sooner than it was revealed, it wasn’t a sure thing, just a theory. Jake’s paternalistic behavior toward Erica/Birdie still grates, but she does give him what for, thankfully. No boxing or hunting in this one, so perhaps a bit more enjoyable for folks not into those things. Sheriff Meg Landry is still a favorite character. Looking forward to the next one—one of the few series I’m committed to listening to (as opposed to reading) because Cendese really does a great job and has made those characters form in my mind.

Good Storyline

I enjoyed the continued development of the core characters. Nice implementation of tips to lead a person off course. Nice tempo of the storyline. Will definitely get the next installment of this series.
