Resumen del Editor

How do we make sense of the world's different religions? In today's globalized society, religion is deeply intertwined with every issue we see on the news. But talking about multiple religions can be contentious. Are different faiths compatible somehow? And how can we know whether one religion is more true than another?

In this creative thought experiment, Peter Kreeft invites us to encounter dialogues on the world's great faiths. His characters Thomas Keptic and Bea Lever are students in Professor Fesser's course on world religions, and the three explore the content and distinctive claims of each. Together they probe the plausibility of major religions, from Hinduism and Buddhism to Christianity and Islam. Along the way they explore how religions might relate to each other and to what extent exclusivism or inclusivism might make sense. Ultimately, Kreeft gives us helpful tools for thinking fairly and critically about competing religious beliefs. If the religions are different kinds of music, do they together make harmony or cacophony? Decide for yourself.

Tenderly Tackles Tough Topics

Sheds light on the search for understanding and acceptance
This is the type of book to be re-read or relistened to and pondered for its gentle yet powerful gems about religion. Not a light read/listen but an enlightening one for any interested in a fair and balanced survey of world religions. Kudos to Kreeft !!

Hmmmm

I guess once you get used to one voice for three the back and forth over religion gets really interesting.

Enlightening - very accessible

This book takes a complex topic and makes it accessible for most people I think. It is very well written in a conversational style that helps the author highlight and explain various points of view. A great read. I would buy it again.

Great overall!

My only complaint is the spoken names for the dialogue. I found it distracting. But the book is great. Peter Kreeft is awesome!

Excellent book, might be hard for some.

I do enjoy books of this nature. They serve a complex function that is required if one truly seeks to better understand a subject many consider impossible to understand.

The format reads like a stage play as characters take turns speaking and are read out loud by the narrator turn for turn, this will turn off some listeners as this can be repetitive. You’ll notice I said, “can be” this does not mean you will not adjust to it, as I did but it’s by no means a guarantee you will.

If you do mange to get past that initial hurtle, what awaits you is a pretty important piece of work by the always enjoyable Prof. Peter Kreeft. Here we learn like terms and the limits of our ability to even give consistent definitions what things are and are not in terms of how we approach the subject of religion.

From here the book expands into what other religions actually believe and how closely tied if at all with Christianity they are and are not.

In the end, it will leave you with new questions you didn’t know you had.
